Boycott Sunoco

I have a Sunoco gasoline credit card which I have had for several years.

I always pay my bill to Sunoco online at their online bill paying website.

On February 28, 2013 I went online at sunoco.accountonline.com to pay my bill.

Today, I received an email from Sunoco that they were unable to process my payment.

I checked my statement and noted that I had paid the bill and the confirmation number before I called Sunoco's alleged customer service line.

I was on the phone for over one hour and spoke to 8 different customer service and support people before it could be determined that Sunoco had charged a closed checking account that was no longer on my registered Sunoco web page.

No one at Sunoco would admit that there was at the very least a "glitch" in their online bill paying service or that perhaps Sunoco's online bill paying service had been hacked and compromised. They were insistent on blaming me although the Sunoco online bill paying history showed that for over a year each month the payment had been made through my active bank.

Beyond this, because my account was now "delinquent" by four "4" days they were going to hit me with a $25.00 Late Fee and the only way they would remove the late fee was if I would pay a month in advance on the current balance. The price of gas being what it is today I am running a small balance each month.

I escalated the issue several times and got the same canned response that there was no way that Sunoco's  online bill pay would be in error and it must be my fault. Again, there was a year's history of bill paying to Sunoco through the correct checking account and the closed  checking account had been removed from the account.  Reason had no effect on these idiots.

One has to assume this is some sort of scam Sunoco is running to increase their cash flow by: one creating a computer incident where a bill payment is not accurately processed and two blaming the customer for their mistake or corrupt practices and three threatening the customer that their credit rating will be damaged if they do not resolve the problem - by paying Sunoco a month in advance - in Sunoco's favor.

Sunoco is a corrupt company and I will never use their gasoline products again even though I have used this one family owned Sunoco affiliated gas station for year. I will tell them later that they have lost my business until they change gas brands.

My advise is to Not do any business with Sunoco. They are a company that is corrupt and are attempting to rip-off its customers.

Boycott Sunoco !
