My husband and I attended the Royal Sunset Hotel timeshare presentation. We were told many things, including that it was a Canadian tax write off, that the value of the property would go up and that we would have a deed, all of which has proven to be false. Essentially, everything we were told is garbage. We made our decision based on false information that was given on purpose. These people are liars.

We tried to cancel within 5 days but were told we had waived our right to cancel, so we just ate it. It was Christmas, and we had no idea what to do, but weren't about to let them ruin our vacation.

Recently, I discovered a website called Sunset Scam that described my story to a "T"! I couldn't believe it!

So, now we are aware that we have been scammed. We were lied to and signed papers while intoxicated. We take responsibility for that.

The biggest problem is that now, even though in our contract it states there is 5 days to cancel with a refund, and if you cancel outside of that 5 days, you don't get your monies returned (what you have already paid), they are refusing to honor this clause in our contract.

We have stated we are willing to lose the deposit and call it an expensive lesson, but they are REFUSING TO HONOR THEIR OWN TERMS. Even after they expressly told me in an e-mail that I could cancel with the loss of any monies already paid.

I hope this helps someone to NOT sign their contract. Whatever they tell you is a lie, and they are a horrible company to deal with.

I am launching an all-out fight to deal with these people. If anyone else is in this boat, feel free to post here and we can get in touch. I don't even care if I get my money back, I just want to cancel the contract like it states in Clause Twelfth.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront. I found this article that speak precisely about this, you should read it, that might help you to resolve many doubts:
