Sunshine Subscription Agency- Jimmy David Magazine scam! Florida

A young man, named Jimmy David, came to my door. Made a few jokes and was very unclear about what he was selling but said he was trying to earn points to win a trip to Cancun. He said he got points for knowing what I did for a living and for how long I had been doing it. He then asked if he could use a tabletop to write the information down. I let him in and left the door open. He then showed me this very battered plastic list of the magazines they offer- it had how many points he would receive for each magazine and what company would be supported. I picked a magazine that would benefit a children's hospital and he said it would be $55. At that time, I was sensing that something was up. Everything seemed unofficial and he made me very uneasy when he asked if I had a boyfriend. I asked if I needed to pay right now and he of course said yes. I told him I didn't have money. I was trying to find a way out of the situation so I said that my mom would be coming home and that she might want to look at the magazine list..trying to get him to leave and come back ( then ignore the door;) ) But he insisted he needed the money now and that I could write a check and if it was a personalized check that he would get more points. So, uncomfortably, I wrote a check to SSA for $55. He then left, telling me he was in first place to win the trip. As soon as he left, I researched the company and found all the complaints on this site. I got in my car and started looking for him to get my check back. With no luck, I went to my bank and cancelled the check. DO NOT LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU! slam the door in their face and don't feel bad!
