SVT, Inc. Office Supplies Scam Columbia Missouri

The exact same thing happened to me last week and sadly enough I fell for it...

The woman on the phone claimed she had talked with the owner of the company I work for and told me the owner gave me the go ahead to order VERY cheap office supplies.

She listed off a few office supplies wondering if we use them (ie: Sharpies, Post-Its, Scotch Tape, Highlighters & Bic Pens). I explicitly told her the ONLY items I was interested in were the Post-Its and the Pens as we go through a lot of them on a regular basis.

They of course came in 'gross' quantites but for the price (I'm talking a matter of cents) I figured I couldn't go wrong. She went through the sale VERY quickly, but I figured it should be okay since I only ordered those two items and they were so inexpensive...

SO today, July 29th, 2009, I get a 60lb. package dropped off by UPS from SVT, Inc. and when I opened the package, boy was I in for a surprise!

There were pens, Sharpies, Sticky Notes (NOT the Post-It brand), a TON of scotch tape and even two tape dispensers that the woman didn't even mention to me!

I at first was like, "Okay, I will just keep the pens and sticky notes and send the rest back." but the more and more I sat there looking at the box it just didn't seem right to me.

I searched the internet for SVT, Inc. and I was once again shocked and mortified.

I immediately got on the phone and tried calling 3 times to only get an answering machine. I left a message with my information demanding a call back ASAP.

Surprisingly enough I received a call within 30 mins from an unprofessional sounding woman named 'Julie'.

I told her they shipped me tons of supplies I didn't order and after doing further research on the company I was NOT doing business with them and I was sending everything back and not paying a dime.

She got a bit rude and said she would send me mailing labels to send the box back and I should get them within 1-3 business days. I sure hope this happens! I can't wait to see the bill...
