Taipei Restaurant in Roanoke, Va is a decent restaurant but I have had it with the owner. Her name is Miss Lin. She is very judgemental and a gossip. In my opinion she should stick to serving good food, instead of gossiping about customers and asking rude questions. I had been a customer here for 5 years, until recently in Sep. 2016. My husband and I were big fans. However I had started noticing sometimes when a customer would leave, Miss Lin would say something like “they were soo annoying”. Or “I bet they were lying about that”. Sometimes she would proceed to talk about customers in a negative way and make fun of them. I asked her one time why she felt the need to do that. (It wasn’t everytime she would say something, but enough- We would come 2 times a week sometimes & atleast 1 time she would say something negative about someone). She told me “I am just telling the truth about them. I have a way of picking up on people. If they are truthful or not”. I just kind of shrugged and said alright. Then I told her she should tone the negativity down. On our next visit, I was by myself and Miss Lin said “Where is that annoying husband of yours”? I asked “annoying husband”?  She said my husband was “a liar and talked too much”.( I later heard from other people she often accuses people of lying and being liars) She said that was her opinion and asked what I would like to order. I said I would probably come back later, I had something I had to do. I didn’t make an order and left. That was the last time I went. When I told my husband what Miss Lin said he was shocked. He went by Taipei and asked her about it, where she denied everything. So… basically she talked behind his back and kissed his butt when she was face-2-face with him.

A family friend told us Miss Lin fabricated several untruths about their son and was telling another customer after they left the restaurant, that he was “probably homosexual”, And he “looked like a limp wristed girl”. That is heresay, I know,  but I believe it after what she said about my husband and her denying it. I don’t think Miss Lin has any hunch for picking up on how people are. I just think she likes to talk and gossip too much. As I said the food is decent here. If you like the food, that’s fine. But just know who you are giving your money to. I won’t support Miss Lin anymore. She seems like a very unhappy person who likes to gossip and I wouldn’t listen to anything she says. You can find food just as good as Taipei, and cheaper at other Valley Chinese Restaurants. If you want similar food with a great atmosphere and friendly staff, I have tried “Szechuan” and I think their food is great. Better than Taipei. There is also a restaurant on Franklin Rd, called “Taste of Asia”. I hope my Ripoff Review can help someone looking for a good chinese restaurant in Roanoke, Va.
