Tanner Transmissions Inc. $3K, 3 tries, 9 weeks to fix Salt Lake City Utah

We have a 200 Ford Windstar mini-van. It began to shift between 1st and 2nd harder than it should have. We took it to Tanners at 1833 State to have the trans flushed. After 3 days we recieved a call that they (Tanners) had found some metal chips in the pan when they dropped it to change the filter. I went over and inspected the parst. It looked like a piece of an oil seal to me so I asked what should be done. Rebuild the trans I was told. The cost would be $2800.00 plus tax and environmental charges.

Having not much choice I authorised them to rebuild. This took 2 weeks. We got the van back and it immedietly started to shift hard like it had before we took it to Tanners. We called and were told to bring it back in.

After 2 weeks we were called and told that they had replaced all of the insides of the Transmission and it was good to go. NOT. Within 2 weeks it started again to shift hard. This time we took it to a Ford dealership for diognostics. They tested the van and said that the 1st to 2nd gear modulator was sticking.
Back to Tanners. This time we told them we were going on vacation and wanted the van back when we returned.
Two weeks later we returned and the van was still not fixed. Hadn't even started it. Three weeks after that they called to say it was done. That was Friday the 22 of August. We havn't noticed the problem in the 30 or so miles we have driven since then, but I don't have much faith that that will continue.

Tanner's is a rip off, they are liars and cheats. I wouldn't let them work on my bicycle transmission in the future
