TARGET/TARGET NATIONAL BANK FRAUDULENT CREDIT ACCOUNTS MINNEAPOLIS Minnesota

The latter part of last year a collection agency sent a bill to my mom's house address to my step-sister. Startle, I open the bill to find out that it was a bill on a Target's account. I called to inquire about it and the bill was under her name but my social security number. It was an Target account that had been open over 2yrs ago, used and never paid.

When they realized that it was my social security number but another name they refer me to Target. Target fraud department told me that the address on file was not mine, actually my stepsisters and that I was a victim of ID theft.

They took all my information, which I was reluctant to give and said that this information would be taken off of my credit report along with my sister's name who they attach to my report also.

Needless to say, I never heard from Target again. They were suppose to send me some papers to sign but I never received them. I have tried to contact the fraud department but I can never get through (I have waited 20mins on hold).

I do not know how Target can open up an account in someone elses name with my social security number when they disclose that they verify identity before opening an account.

My sister says that she has never open an Target account and I believe her. Target has really disappointed me. Obviously they don't care about their customers and will allow such things to take place. I am more disapppointed in what they haven't done to correct this issue.

The time the account was open, I was living out of town, in the country where there is no Target store!

I recently gotten a credit report where Target has updated the account information. This account shows up as negative and unpaid, not fraudulent!
