Tate does not honor their contract by promoting artist without an agent. My CD was released on Oct 23rd of 2012 and I haven't sold a single CD or received any digital downloads. I was told that Tate would promote my CD without any problem but they have failed. I had to pay up front $1999 even though I recorded my CD in my own studio but was again told that there wouldn't be a problem with promotion.

They have been total misleading and no one should ever sign on with this company unless you have an agent. They will not refund me any of the money that I spent or answer any of my emails.

These people should be shutdown and investigated for false advertisment and fraud.

My Response To Tate Music Group

AUTHOR: Juan V - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 02, 2013
Mr. Finch,

Sorry I missed your call yesterday, but I tried to call you again today. My concerns is that I haven’t received any airplay from any of my songs to promote any sales because I was told from one of your staff members that the recording wasn’t up to the standards of Tate to be played on air. When I sent the master I was told there wouldn’t be a problem  mastering it for Tate standards. Mr. Johnson knew this very well and could have rejected my masters before I sent any money and told me that I needed a better recording for him to master.

I had also informed my A&R rep that due to my medical conditions I wouldn’t be able to travel or make appearances, I was also told that it wouldn’t be a problem because you have in house reps that will promote my CD. I never made a trip to Oklahoma for anything because I had everything  done here at my own studio even pictures, so you can see why I’m frustrated with no sales. I’m a reggae artist not totally a Christian artist and there’s not any radio stations in my area who will play my music, but again I was told that this wouldn’t be a problem.

And now I can‘t upload my own music to certain sites because I‘m told that Tate owns it. I put a lot of work into my music and had done pretty well with sales on my first CD that I managed to promote. The troubling thing to me is that I’m not the only person who had signed on with you and who’s CD hasn’t been promoted by your team either. Guess I was expecting more than what I have received out of Tate because of the persuasive contract that is some what misleading on how you will do things for an artist.

Had I done more research like I’ve done now I wouldn’t have wasted $1995 on something I could have done myself. I know that I probably won’t recover any of the money through CD sales by your company so I would like to cancel my contract with Tate and for you to release all of my material back to me so that I can upload my own music to online stores.

I need to find a way to repay my father his money that I borrowed and this is the only way I know how to accomplish this. To this day I have never received any calls from affiliates you said were contacted in my area about anything. Concerning the confidentiality clause of the contract had I gotten some answers from your team I wouldn’t have taken other steps that I did.

Sincerely,

Juan V

Respose From Tate Music Group

AUTHOR: Juan V - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, July 02, 2013

Since filing my claim with the attorny general of Oklahoma I received a sorry response from Mr Allen Finch. As you can see towards the end of the letter they try very hard not to let anyone find out what they are doing. Also since responding to Mr Finch I haven't heard from them or thier lawyers.

Hello Juan-

I was forwarded some of your concerns and I wanted to address those.  I called you yesterday but had to leave a message.  In fact, the number that our team had on file seems to be no longer in use...so I have updated your file but please make sure we are aware of any of those changes, too (in case you hadn't let us know yet).

First, I want to address the sales numbers and concerns you have with royalties and statements regarding your project, The Rasta Theory.  We don't show any events on your calendar and are unaware of anything that you may have done recently.  The last note we have regarding events was that you specifically asked us to not work on events, etc. because you were unable to perform.  As you know, it is imperative for artists to be out and active with evens (as much as possible) because this is where most sales happen - both directly to the consumer and later as those same people purchase online, etc.

I also want to provide you with the information and reports that we have sent you up to date.  This information was centered around your album's release date and the promotion and branding of your music through advertising, etc.

-In October of 2012, our publicist sent Press Releases and reached out to 39 media contacts in the Aberdeen area.

-In October of 2012, one of those media contacts from the CBS affiliate got back to us and was interested in setting up a story/feature on you and your music.  This was tentative and the CBS affiliate asked that you personally follow up.  This info was sent to you in your Marketing Report.

-In November of 2012, we sent you the report for your TV ad campaign that ran nationally in the months of September and October 2012.  These ads garnered 182,864 impressions across the country.

We are very happy and willing to do more and continue moving forward with your project - and if you are now able to look into events, etc. let us know.  We can have our team start looking into venues and making contacts.  This is the best way to create exposure and sell units.

Lastly, we have and will continue to follow the contract and work with you to promote and push your music.  There has been no breach of contract on our end.  I do understand if you have frustrations or feel that things aren't happening like you desire them to...but we have and will continue to work with you to promote and sell your music.  I also received your letter to the Attorney General and I will be responding to that.  I do want to remind you that we are under contract together...which includes not only our marketing and promotional agreement but also our confidentiality clause.  If there are issues and concerns, we need to take care of those things between our two parties.

Again, as I stated before, we are happy to continue moving forward with you and your project...and I hope we are able to see event opportunities and sales happening as we turn this corner.  Let us know if you have other questions and please let us know if you are wanting to look at events, etc. now.  You can send us any qualified leads of venues in your area and our team can look into those.

Sincerely,

--

Allen Finch

Tate Music Group Ripoff

POSTED: Friday, June 21, 2013

Please contact the OK attorney generals office. There is a current investigation of the jerks at Tate Music Group. They will give you information. Then you can join into a class action suit to be filled in the next several months. There is already an attorney coordinating the effort as class action. Tate is a bunch of sleezy grease ball liars, so don't let them get away with this. Together we'll get them very soon !!
