TaxBack Files tax return and keeps your refund, claims "Still in process" 18 months after IRS sent them refund. ripoff Chicago Illinois

This company advertises to people from foreign countries who work in the US (and maybe other foreign countries), and offers to file tax returns for you. They claim a very high refund amount that you will receive.

They processed my 2004 US tax return. They received my refund electronically from the IRS. After 18 months, I still get the same responses (almost cut and paste' replies). They claim that my refund is still in process, that they are currently waiting for the cheques to be sent by the IRS, and that there will be a discussion with the IRS in order to speed up the process and the tax refund to be released shortly. Each time I contacted them, I received these same replies.

I have the Record of Account from the IRS, stating that an electronic payment was sent to TaxBack over 18 months ago. I received this report when I went to the IRS for an audit. TaxBack had incorrectly filed my tax return, and received more money back than was entitled. I had to pay $445 in taxes and interest to the IRS, while TaxBack still holds onto over $1000 of my original refund.
