To whom this may concern,
I have been a member of Taxi Music service for about six months now. I am a songwriter and musician and have been so for 30 years. I came across Taxi on the web making claims of being capable to get your music to the right people, but so far that has not been the case. Before i joined, i spoke extensively with several staff members to make sure what would be requried of me as far as sound quality for my submissions. Since I'm a sonwriter, and not looking to be a performer, i made sure that my home recordings would be suitable. I asked many times what type of submissions i should choose as a songwriter, and was told repeatedly that i should submit my music to the singer/songwriter submissions in raw acoustic form. Since most of my recordings are acoustic recordings, i typically only submit to those type of listings. As they are home recordings, i do use a recording system that is capable of recording twelve tracks, with reverb, mixing and mastering effects. So they are'nt just a guy and a michrophone. I have chose the proper listings and have done everything to the specifications asked for by Taxi. The songs I submit are for other artists to rerecord and to add their own twist and make the songs their own. But i have a major problem with the reasoning for Taxi refusing to forward my music. I always get good critiques from the screeners, but they seem to always find some small issue with the quality of the recordings. They are lame excuses that make no sense. I was initially informed that a low quality home recording would be fine to submit, even recordings made on a simple Iphone. The music i submit is meant for others, not to be played in the form in which i sent the recordings. Telling me i need to adjust my pan settings to dead center, telling me to be more dynamic in the chorus, just small things like this, but with excellent critiques. This is very confusing when i am submitting songs to be listened to and rerecorded by another artist. I went the extra mile to make the recordings more than what they initially asked for, just for my own sense of wanting to give them a quality recording. If the critiques are good, and i am submitting to a raw acoustic singer/songwriter submission, what is the purpose in Taxi's screeners picking apart small issues in the recordings, when they clearly stated repeatedly that any type of recording would be acceptable as long as it is a stripped down recording submission. I feel as if the company is taking advantage of desperate artists just looking to find a way to get their work to someone that could help along their career. The listings also seem fraudulent as well. They never tell who you are submitting the music to, which leads members to think they are made up listings to get you to spend money, since each submission cost's five dollars per submission. It's not as if we could obtain the contact info to the producers or record labels if they stated the names. As far as that go's we as musicians could easily obtain this info via the web. It literally seems like an outright scam. I do not like to use this term, but the more i look into the situation and read the thousands of people on the web with the same issues, it has really come to light that they are making money from giving critiques. I feel as if this is really their only service, but if you look at their website, they clearly claim to have a vast amount of connections in the music industry. I know many people that are, and have been members of this company, but never had a single song forwarded, only critiques. We as musicians do not need their critiques, the crowd typically lets us know if we have a great song or not. I would hate to think that something as small as, hey, you need to pan right, add more reverb, or the many lame excuses they give for not forwarding music would keep great songs from ever being heard. It takes away the chance for great songs that deserve to be heard by music lovers everywhere. I will not use this service again, and i would not advise anyone else to use this service. You will pay 300$ a year plus five dollars per submission, for some guy in head phones who never made it in the music industry to listen and find any reason possible not to forward your music. They offer a money back guarantee, but it's not real either. No one ever gets a refund, none that i know of anyway. Good luck to all the amazing musicians and artists out there. Please don't allow Taxi to make you think you aren't great. They are about money, not getting the wonderful music so many make to the ears and hearts of so many. Thanks for your site, and i hope this gives some insight to anyone thinking of taking that long, long walk with Taxi Music. Best Wishes to All!

Apologies to Taxi Music

Hello fellow consumers, I would like to start by extending a sincere apology to Michael Laskow and Taxi Music. After speaking with Michael very extensively, i learned a lot about the expectations of the Taxi Music Team, information that his reps were'nt able to get across in the clear and detailed manor in which Michael did. Taxi hold's thier members to a higher standard than i had originally understood. Obiviously, as Mr.Laskow explained, you really have to be aware of every detail within the listings and try your best to meet this criteria in order to be forwarded. I guess I felt a little misled by some of the varying information i was given by several different reps I had spoken with in trying to decide which listings were right for the equipment and style in which my music is created. I totally understand now that this is all a learning curve, but it's very frustrating when so many praise my music and constantly tell me how great the music is, but can never seem to get a song forwarded. As Michael said, it's not that the music is'nt good, it's a matter of picking song's that are spot on for the listings that are presented, and to take the extra time to read every detail of the listing and follow the details as closely as possible. At this time I would like to take back any negative comments that I made about Taxi.
After reading other reports and reviews online, that played a huge part in my decision in posting the ripoff report. I think many people are having the same issue as myself, being told by many others that their music is great, but never being forwarded by Taxi. The fact is, Taxi hold's their members to very high standards, and when they actually forward a song, there is a high probability that the song will be picked up due to the professional level of the listener doing the critique. All in all, these critiques are only going to make us better as writers and performers. I feel confident after talking one on one for close to an hour with the owner of Taxi Music, who was very professional, very kind, and truly seemed like an amazing human being, that Taxi is all they say they are. I deeply regret making the report, and if any way possible, i would love to see the negative report removed from the Rip Off Report page. Thank you so much Mike for clearing up the issue, and being so generous in doing so. Many thanks, and I look forward to moving forward with Taxi Music, and with your help, understanding the listings, hopefully propelling my music to a higher place. I throughly enjoyed my very detailed and eye opening conversation with Michael Laskow (Owner of Taxi) and hope to speak with him again someday soon. Very classy gentleman that i feel we can all trust! As of today, I 100% believe in Taxi Music!
Sincerely T- Music

Misunderstanding with T-Music Cleared Up

To T-Music,
I’m very grateful that you took the time to speak with me today regarding your complaint posted here. You were gentleman-like, and I appreciated that a great deal. I understand that people get frustrated and post complaints in the heat of the moment, and I REALLY appreciate your offer to take this down!
As I explained on the phone, 4 out of 7 of your pitches were for film and TV music, which you told me you now understand need to be Broadcast Quality because they do not re-record the music when they license it.
You also seemed very appreciative that I was able to explain that in most of your pitches, it was more a matter of the songs being off target for the style the companies were searching for or the song structure being not-quite-good-enough yet to be considered for major label artists.
You were also quite gracious and patient in understanding that the feedback given by our screeners was given in the spirit of helping you get to the level you need to be at, and was not intended to be critical or malicious.
As I stated on the phone, your recording quality may not yet be at the level you’d like it to be, but it is not terrible by any stretch! I’m very happy that you’re going to take ProTools lesson from Full Sail University. I think that will be a big help in taking your home recordings to the next level.
You were also very gracious in telling me that your comments about our listings was unfounded, and triggered by malicious comments made by others. For anybody reading these posts, please click this link to see just how effective TAXI is when you submit strong music for the right opportunities:

Thank you again T-Music for a great conversation. I look forward to meeting you in person at our convention next November. I truly hope you can make it!
