BREAKING NEWS: A new song was just written and submitted at the BANK OF AMERICA page just moments ago and it might be available later today...

Uh..breaking news..I bet that song was submitted by Karl. How is that news? Has anyone else but Karl found a way to sing yourself out of an overdraft fee?

Even more confused..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, October 21, 2010

Your update did nothing to clear up what ever issue you have.  In fact, it is even more confused now because your numbers have changed and there is nothing about any checks.

However, if I was to take a huge guess.  It appears as if you are depositing cash and then immediatly trying to use your debit card.  If so here are a few things, and I am going to try and use very small words.

First...why?  Why not avoid the "middle man"(aka the bank) and just pay with the cash you were going to deposit.

Second.  Your deposit is subject to the funds availability policy of the bank, that means when the bank will make the money you deposited available.  When the funds are made available depends on a few things including the type of deposit(check, cash..), how it was deposited(ATM or Teller), and the time of day it was deposited.  All banks have a "deposit cut-off time".  Anything deposited after that time will be treated as if it was made on the next banking day(the next non-weekend or holiday).  If you are unaware of your banks Funds Availability policy or the cut-off times you need to immediatly go inside the bank and ask them.

Third. If you were depositing this cash to try and avoid an overdraft fee.  You may have been too late in that you were already overdrafted when you made the deposit.

We are all confused...

AUTHOR: Ronny g - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

..normally I will judge a report based on it's merits/content and not by spelling or grammatical errors..anyone can mess that up and there is no rule that requires perfect spelling.

However this entire report has very few if any comprehensible sentences. So how can anyone not be confused? Lousy spelling is one thing..but the ability to form comprehensible sentences should be the least expected when lodging a report.

Either this report a hoax, or the poster needs to consider English as a second language.

The best I can make out, is the poster claims to have deposited $100.00 cash or a check two days prior to pumping in $35.00 worth of gas. And somehow this lead to an overdraft fee. Very doubtful if the check was actually cashed and cleared. It is always a good idea to make sure a check clears before spending against it..or you subject yourself a fee.

Granted a check should not take 2 business days, my bank clears all checks in one business day..but from this report we have no idea if it was business days, weekend, holiday etc.

Bottom line...don't "trust" any bank...trust yourself. When the check clears the bank will let you know, and only then is it safe to spend against it. That is of course assuming the check is good to begin with.
