Tech Help Line ,junk phone call, Junk phone call, attempted scam Nationwide

The caller said they were the "tech help line" and claimed to have information about my computer. They said "This is a routine checkup call about your computer." I played along to try to get a Web address for them (these scammers will usually tell you to connect to a system where they can access your computer and make changes) so I could report them to law enforcement, but they hung up.

The told me to run eventvwr which brings up a list of operating processes, and they will tell uninformed computer users that these indicate problems with their computers that they need to fix. My experience is that they will then try to get you to connect to a web site so they can access your computer. DO NOT, under any circumstances, complete these steps because they will install viruses and malware, and then charge you to fix the trouble they have caused.
