Terri's Consign and Design in Phoenix takes your furniture, sells it, and then keeps your money.  They owe us $3000.00 for furniture and artwork we put on consignment with them prior to moving from Scottsdale to Wisconsin in May of 2009, and we were informed that all of the items sold by the end of June. Despite the terms in the contract stipulating that a check be issued by the end of the month in which the items were sold, they have been giving us nothing but excuses and claim they are working with the Attorney Generals office in AZ on issuing payments.


I wrote the attorney general's office in AZ and have received no response as of yet.  As of today, it has been 8 months since our furniture was picked up by Terri's and 6 months since we were informed "ALL the furniture sold."  While they claim they are working with the Attorney General's office and have to "get permission" to issue payments, essentially what they are doing is using my money to fund their cash flow.


The economy has hit us all hard, me included.  I NEED that money.  We moved to Wisconsin to care for my mentally handicapped brother in law, and are stuck fixing up his parents' house (they have both passed) so that we have a place to live.  I am supporting a daughter with MS and a son who is bi-polar.  Needless to say, I am furious at getting conned by Terri's and expect never to see that money.

I am reacting to Roger who included a statement from the company in his report.  I just wanted to say that it reads word for word like the one I received in the same time frame.  Additionally, when I accused the person who wrote it of endorsing a fraudulant business, she became indignant and offered this response:

"As I have explained in two previous emails, it will not be available to pick up. I wish it was, but regrettably, it will not be. I cannot put any more emphasis on that. I have NO control over the funds, or the decision making. My position is to relay information. It doesn't hold the weight you think it does. I'm sorry that's not the answer you want to hear, but it's the truth. As of 8/25/09 we are undergoing a change in the method on which we are sending out payments.

"We have been in contact the Attorney General who is aware of the situation, and the steps we have been making to correct it as well. We are currently working with the Attorney General on a plan for sending out payments and getting this situation resolved. I cannot provide an estimation date at this very moment because we are still awaiting approval on that plan. While we are awaiting approval, we are holding off on sending payments, so we can send out what the AG is requiring on that plan. I apologize because I completely understand how frustrating the lack of information can be. As soon as I am provided that information, I will be in communication as far as a date. Since the meeting with the AG, this is the route we have to take. They are requiring things of us that we need to fulfill in our method of paying people as we can.

"Yes, I'm quite aware of what our score is with the BBB. Again, I don't have control over the funds. I just send information. I would prefer you don't personally assume what I endorse because you're upset at this company. I am not unethical, and I don't believe I endorse an unethical company, nor would I. Unethical would have been disregarding the people she owed money to and filing for bankruptcy and leaving you all high and dry. She decided to take the higher road, regardless of how tough it's been and try to get through it and get everyone paid. No one plans to have financial troubles, but at least she is making the effort to fix it. If she was not making the effort to change the situation, I would not be here.

I've put your information and payment request has been added to my main check request log. I've also forwarded this email to a superior. I don't know when they will be in touch, as I can't vouch for someone else. I can almost assure you, however, that until we hear back on that approval from the Attorney General, regardless of who you speak to, the answer most likely isn't going to be any different. "

What a bunch of bull, eh?
