Texas Moving Services, aka: Nationwide Movin Services contracted a move for us in January 2011 from Tennessee to Texas.
First of all, Texas Moving Services subcontracted the work which is something Michelle swore they never did when they were selling us the move on the phone. Two men showed up in a U-Haul truck claiming their truck had broken down on the way to our house...then, the lead mover said he left his tools on the other truck and asked to borrow mine.
Secondly, the guys, who finally arrived after taking two days for the trip, demanded a cashier's check or money order, no cash, which I already had told them I had, BEFORE they would unload anything. Meanwhile, I called Michelle and anyone who would speak with me for 8 hours and got a girl who acted like I was calling to order a pizza...I never heard back from anybody...EVER!
Thirdly, they REFUSED to show us our bill of ladening OR our weight tickets claiming they didn't have one and weren't required to stop at any weigh stations. I spoke with a guy who claimed to be the dispatcher who said he was doing me a favor by not charging me for the extra weight yet would not produce a Bill of Lading.
Fourthly, we have approximately $6,000 in damaged/destroyed furniture/appliances in addition to lost boxes and lost/stolen jewelry. The contract states they would dis-assemble and re-assemble any furniture (other than appliances) and they refused to re-assemble all but our bed. Texas Moving Services will not take our calls nor respond to emails or messages or work with us at all to resolve the damaged items. In fact the company they use, Anthem Claim Management, is not only on Rip-off report too, but has refused to respond to our efforts to contact them as well.
In summation, we were told lies to book our move, then had our belongings subcontracted out to two men who arrived 2 days late after claiming their truck broke down and they had left their tool box in the other truck. We also have over $6,000 in damages plus lost/stolen goods and NO way to get this resolved other than a lawsuit which is on the way. We are filing with every appropriate authority possible to make sure this doesn't happen to other unsuspecting people as well.

In response to this complaint, while I don't agree with the companies tactics (which are very common with the company named) it is the clients duty to research ALL companies they plan on entertaining quotes from and obviously they did not do that. Nationwide Moving Services has a terrible Better Business Bureau rating (C + ) and they have a pretty poor reputation as a "broker" and only a broker. If you actually researched the company you would see that they are listed as a broker meaning they don't have any of their own trucks and basically they farm out your move to a licensed moving company that happens to be heading along the way to pick up your move. If they told you up front your move would not be subbed out, they lied!! I'm fairly certain that all of this was in the contract you signed and most likely failed to read. This is usually a case of someone going with the cheapest quote, or one of the cheapest quotes available. I am the general manager of a moving company based out of California and listen to folks all day long who say "well, Nationwide Moving Services is $1,000.00 cheaper than your quote" Well, now you all know why.
