I attended the Academy of Computer Careers in Hammonton, NJ back in 1999 until the beginning of 2001. The school is now called Prism Education Group. The loan at the time was through TFC Credit Corporation. I have paid this segment of the loan off back in October of 2001. The payoff figure was $1,189.68. TFC called me once before about this final payment in 2003. They had admitted their mistake. Supposedly this was dealt with. I received a letter from Conserve Debt Collectors in August of 2005. I responded to them and demanded an itemized, detailed report of my account activity. I just received it February 9, 2006! I called Conserve and went through the statement with them. My payoff amount is no where on the statement. They were in agreement with me that this check was applied somewhere that it wasn't supposed to be. I asked them if they wanted me to fax a copy of the check and the bank statement to them. They said that this was not acceptable in this matter! In other words, this will not be sufficient evidence in my case! They want me to send another payment, plus interest and fees! I told them that this was absurd. The woman "Desiree" Ext.2248, that I spoke with gave a number for TFC Credit Corporation that is no good. "Go Figure!!!" There are also a handful of friends of mine that have attended this school, and are all going through problems with their loans. "Strange, huh?" I don't think so. It sounds like a scam to me. My biggest problem is that this is on my credit report! This is now harassment as far as I'm concerned. I've contacted the Attorney General's Office, and the Better Business Bureau. I hope this matter is cleared ASAP!!! Thank you.

Buyer Beware: Sallie Mae stopped doing business w/the school I chose to attend. When I signed a contract w/Fleur de Lis Institute in Oct 2006, Sallie Mae had stopped doing business w/them in April 2006 (according to what was presented by the state board's investigating team). The "executive director" got 7+ of us loans through TFC Credit Corp, which I've figured out is for people w/not so great credit. This school has since gone through some issues w/the AZ State Board of Private Postsecondary Education & is pending closure as of May 2008. Its currently in Superior Court appeals process by the administrators of this school. TFC's main web page misrepresent themselves by saying that they take on only the "best schools" in good standing. This school was not in good standing w/the state when I signed my loan contract Jan 2007.
I told TFC in July 2008 that this school is pending closure & that I needed a loan forgiveness form sent. They don't do loan forgiveness. In my dealings w/TFC they have given me the run around & brushed me off when I've tried to talk to them about the current situation w/the school. They won't give you the name of the "owner" of the loan. What I've learned from talking w/'Joe' at TFC is that who "owns" my loan is actually an administrator at this school. Trying to get info out of them is difficult. Since I'm paying for it, seems like they should disclose to me the things I want to know. Their employees seem to disappear fairly fast as well; a 'Megan' I've talked with who told me things I probably shouldn't have been privy to is no longer there. I testified for the state board things I'd seen/experienced at this school that pertained to the state's case. The executive director of the school was trying to badger me in front of the judge & the asst attorney general by saying that I wasn't current on my loan. When I asked TFC about this I was told that TFC reports to the school to give them an update on who is current on their loans and this info is meant for the school's ears only. Seems to me that this is a breach of my privacy, as this administrator was attempting to make me look bad, but my being behind on payments had nothing to do w/why the state board was investigating them.

As of April 7, 2006 my case with TFC Credit Corporation is now resolved. Apparently, according to the gentlemen that I spoke with, there never was a problem with TFC. It was a foul-up in papaerwork. At this point I really don't care what it was. I'm just glad that it's over with. What really enraged me was that Conserve Debt Collectors stated that "a cancelled check and bank statement was not sufficient evidence of payment". Thank God for the State Attorney General's Office. My hat's off to you guys. Thank you. Let's just see how quick it's removed from my credit report.
