Last Saturday I met with Richard Shaw regarding my daughter's involvement with The Annapolis Talent Agency. I am new to the business and listened as he said we would need headshots, comp cards and a place on the talent agency's website. He said he was the company's photographer and proceeded to show me some of his work. Everything would total $1,946, so I agreed to pay half at that time and would pay the rest on Tuesday during the Test Shoot.
When I pulled up to the office on Tuesday at 2pm for the shoot, the entire area was blocked off with crime scene tape. Apparently, Mr. Shaw had been shot and killed in the office the night before and was found the next morning when a co-worker arrived.
I wonder if I will get my money back as I have, since then, not heard very good things about the agency's business ethics.

Not Actually a Rebuttal...Need Info

This is not a rebuttal, but I didn't know what else to select. I am a past "customer" of Richard Shaw Photography. He did our wedding and was absolutely wonderful! However, I am in need of the film, orginals, or something as I want to have our photos put on canvas. Can someone tell me who might have this? He owned the Annapolis Talent Agency in Maryland. Thank you!

Robin, it pains me to even read this. This man is dead. He was shot. But why it pains me is... I knew him. He was my next door neighbor. His daughters and his son (who's names I will not release) was my best friend for 7 years of my life (met them when I was four, I'm now 15, they moved upstate when I was 11), I spent nearly every day at their house. He and his now ex-wife trusted me more than any of his daughter's friends. He was like a second father; he practically raised me. Hell, I used to help out around the old studio here in Severna Park. And I honestly do not belive that Richard was the one that ripped you off. Richard is by far one of the most trustworthy people that I have ever been glad to know. I wish I could see him one more time, or at least visit his grave. I've been trying to contact his ex and children, since its been a few years. But the point is, I strongly belive that Richard Preston Shaw was never a theif. He wasn't a criminal, and was unnecessarily murdered. There is no way that he deserved it. Sadly, people will often place their complaints at whoever they could find. There were lawsuits against Richard, BUT there were also lawsuits Kids In The Biz. The people that took it up against KITB did the right thing. The people that took up lawsuits with Richard... Well, may God be with them. You can't blame one man for what another man did. Even if Richard did rip people off, he didnt deserve to be murdered. I will always remember them.

Robin from Millersville,
I am sorry, but you are unbelievable. A man, with children may I add, has passed away, and all you can say is do I get my money back. I don't mean to be rude, but that sounds heartless. I understand that it is a lot of money, and I do feel that you should look into getting it back. I just think it would be better (and more respectful)if you could wait until the man is atleast laid to rest.
I have known Richard for a long time and he was a kind man who cared about everyone.

Robin,
All articles that I have read said that Richard Shaw was found dead on Wednesday Morning, July 26, 2006 and someone last saw him on Tuesday night, July 25th around 9:00 p.m. Apparently he was still alive at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
How is this possible? "When I pulled up to the office on Tuesday at 2pm for the shoot, the entire area was blocked off with crime scene tape. Apparently, Mr. Shaw had been shot and killed in the office the night before and was found the next morning when a co-worker arrived".

It has been on the news today. I was there yesterday when the investigation was on going. I spoke to reporters and I also called an employee of the agency who confirmed that Richard was, in fact, deceased.
The news said his name was Richard Preston. I guess Shaw was an alias. Who knows?

Anne Arundel police have no motive or suspects in homicide investigation
From Sun staff and wire reports
Originally published July 27, 2006, 11:40 AM EDT
The owner of a talent agency in Hanover was found fatally shot at the business yesterday morning, according to Anne Arundel County police.
Richard Shaw, 56, was found about 9 a.m. by a 20-year-old employee arriving at Annapolis Talent Agency/Kidz in the Biz, police said. The employee last saw Shaw alive Tuesday evening at 9 p.m., according to authorities.
Homicide detectives and two mobile crime lab units were sent to the office complex, the Baltimore Commons Business Park on the 7400 block of New Ridge Road.
Shaw had a gunshot wound to his upper body and police are investigating it as a homicide. They have no motive or suspects.
Twenty-two complaints have been filed against Annapolis Talent Agency/Kidz in the Biz in the past three years, according to Kevin Enright, a spokesman for the attorney general's office.
On its Web site, the company bills itself as "Maryland's oldest agency for actors, models, singers, dancers, and narrators."

Are you sure?

Are you sure that it was Richard Shaw and if so, how did you get that information because every article I have seen does not identify the person, it just states 50 year old man or something to that effect.
Unless you saw him carried out while you were there, I'm not sure how you would know this and if you saw it posted somewhere in a paper, can you let me know where I can find it?
