As the owner of the Beltz Law Firm, I have heard just about every excuse known to man that blames an attorney for a result other than a ticket being dismissed outright.  Most of the excuses range from, "I could have done that myself" to "A friend told me that if I hired an attorney my tickets would be dismissed."  Most of the statements are based on some unreasonable expectation of the law and facts surrounding their case.  This is exactly the case below.  First, lets start with the statement that our firm will do trials for $75.00.  This is a complete falsehood.  Our terms of service are clear that we do not do trials for $75.00.  If we did we would go out of business.  That would be like building a house for the price of the shingles on the roof.  Our terms of service can be found at:  http://www.beltzlaw.com/terms-of-service/.  Most clients are able to read and understand that $75.00 is not going to get you to the supreme court and back.  It is the minimum fee we charge to show up in court and either get the case dismissed for a legal reason, or plea the case out to the best deal so that you don't have to appear yourself.  We are not in the business of "backstabbing" anybody.  We are also not in the business of accepting responsibility for the ignorance of others.  This client was speeding, not his lawyer.  This client could have taken his case to trial, but chose not to pay our trial fee.  Basically, he wanted the T-Bone steak for the price of the salad bar.  The only person that would have been ripped off if he would have got what he wanted would have been his attorney.  Instead of paying the fee required to do a full trial, he chose the route of posing as an anonymous client without name or identifying information and complaining about a reputable firm.  We love the practice of law.  We love representing clients.  We love helping.  However, we also love the ability to support our family and our firm by charging reasonable fees for the services provided.
