The Berry Company LLC Horrible customer service, unauthorized renewals, unauthorized price changes Dayton, Ohio

  The Berry Company handles the yellow page advertising for numerous smaller town directories in our area.    However in the last year their customer service has been nothing short of horrible.  Berry doubled the listing cost for one town, over doubled the agreed to price on another three towns and when we Faxed them a copy of what we agreed to the customer service person agreed they were wrong, but then could not change it.   We started complaining to the Missouri Attorney General of these practices....and ...we received a letter just recently (27 Dec. 2011) that the Attorney General's office could not get any response from Berry and it was our problem completely.  I've searched other sites online and found numerous complaints mirroring our experience.    And since this "situation" has been ongoing for most of this year, Berry is now "renewing" our advertising agreements without (and against) our wishes and at a higher price.  When I called Supervisor Jim Gullet on 20 April 2011 (because they renewed one town's listing without our permission), I was told it was too late to cancel even though I had the letter showing the deadline to cancel was 16 May, 2011.  Jim's explanation was that the letter was "incorrect" and the new book was already at the printers.  And so we have never approved any renewals in this next round of phonebooks, and still we receive bills (none of which agree with any kind of previous agreement), and on and on it goes.   This is without a doubt the WORST company we have ever dealt with and any phone company who uses them for their yellow page advertising should know what kind of customer problems they are headed for!!  At this point we've refused to renew (and they went ahead and renewed anyway), and we are getting ready to contact other unhappy advertisers in an attempt to pool the legal costs as needed to get something done.  Stay away from Berry Advertising!!!!!
