I enrolled at The Bryman School, Phoenix AZ in 1997 in the Surgical Technologist program Consisting of 48 weeks in school and 8 weeks externship for a total of 56 weeks.
At the time of enrollment and admittance to the school I don't remember receiving any kind of screening or entrance examination, entrance Assessment Test to test my ability to benefit from the program of study which was the Surgical Technologist program offered at The Bryman School. If I did take a entrance Assessment Test it must have been so simple a primary school student would have been able to pass it with little or no effort.

I attended classes and labs 5 days a week for the next 48 weeks . I passed every academic examination and lab surgical tech skills proficiency test with better than above average grades.

At the end of 48 weeks of academic, surgical tech and operating room hands on training I was told that there was a waiting list to be assigned to a hospital for my 60 days of externship, clinical training. I had to wait for over 4 months before I was finally assigned to Good Samaritan Medical center in Phoenix.

The program included being supervised by a field Surgical Technologist representative from The Bryman School. This field representative ( name her) as supposed to supervise and monitor my clinical training in the operating room on a weekly basis and advise me of any short falls in skills that I needed to work on that were reported to her by the Charge Nurse. This didn't happen! The Field supervisor showed up at the hospital for about 30 minutes every two to three weeks and did not advise me of any problems the Charge Nurse may have reported about my skills. Mostly all she did was ask me if things were going well and watch me set up the O.R. for an operation and than she was gone. No advice, supervision, or feedback about my progress was addressed during her short visit.

At the end of 45 days externship this field representative ( name her) showed up at the beginning of my shift to inform my that I had to leave the O.R. because the Charge Nurse had asked The Bryman School to terminate my clinical training because of the following reasons:
(1)Not motivated
(2)Breaking scrub several times
(3)and several very simple reasons i have forgetten

The next day I reported to the director of The Bryman School and he told me I had one more change and that they would schedule me for another externship program at a local hospital, but again I had to wait on a waiting list for an opening. I had to wait for almost one year before I was again assigned to Mesa General Hospital.

And again I was assigned the same field Surgical Technologist representative, even though the Director promised I would be assigned someone other than (name her) her to supervise me.

Again she visited me in her supervisory capacity for about 30 minutes every 2 to 3 weeks and again no advice, supervision, or feedback about my progress was addressed.
After 30 days of externship I was again informed of my termination of externship because of the following reasons:
(1)Inapprotate comments in the O.R.
(2)slow with O.R. set-ups
(3)lack of self confidence
(4)several other minor infractions I don't remember.
The next day I again reported to the director of The Bryman School and he told me they would not let me participate in another externship clinical training program.

So that was it! Almost two years of education, training and $1600 dollars down the drain. I didn't get any credit, or certificate of completion or anything for all that work. This was suppose to be a training program. Students make mistakes, that's why they are called students. Two chances and you are out with The Bryman School
