After several months of looking at dogs on the internet at the many MBCOA websites, I focused on one out of West Palm Beach, FL. I was in contact with Stacey. The purchasing process went relatively smooth, although at times, it was very tough to get her to respond to emails. She claimed several times that her computer had messed up and that she didnt have access to emails.

I had a pup picked out and was notified that the puppy was sick and that I would have to take a replacement puppy. The other pup had something pressing on the nerve for his bowel movements. It basically meant that he couldn't control when he would use the bathroom. I got our little guy, the new pup, (bentley) on July 10th. We took him to the vet on the 11th and found out that he had significant yeast in his ears, a coccidia parasite and a huge umbilical hernia. I sent this in an email to Stacey, but never heard anything back from her.

A week later, our puppy started a pretty consistent cough. We took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with an upper respitory infection, that led to kennel cough and eventually pneumonia due to "Brachiocephalic Syndrome." The components of this are pinched nostrils, an elongated soft palate and a hypoplastic trachea. This causes problems with his breathing, makes him more susceptible to pneumonia and causes aspiration (inhaling food into the lungs). The aspiration causes pneumonia and vomiting. These are all symptoms that my little guy is having to experience right now at the age of 13 weeks. He is going to have surgery and it will cost $2500, more than the price of the original purchase.

When I spoke to Stacey about the Brachiocephalic Syndrome, she said that it was common in the full-size bulldogs, but not very common in the miniature bulldogs. It does not state in the Guarantee that this is not covered, however, she stated to me that they would not cover any of the costs. She told me that my only option was to send the puppy back to her and they would send me a new one. Anyone that has had a puppy knows that when they arrive, they become a part of your family and the option of sending them back is not an option, not to mention, she was batting 1.000 in sick puppies thus far.

I wrote to the MBCOA, which I later found out on this website is actually The Bulldog Exchange, so I'm guessing that didn't do anygood. I love my little puppy and will pay the $2500 for his surgery, but please, please do not purchase anything from The Bulldog Exchange. It will only cost you a small fortune in the end. The Better Business Bureau of Florida rated the company an F.
