I had the worst time I have ever had on any tour. They do not care about their customers or customer service at all. Or even the tour itself for that matter.
I bought 2 tickets for the city tour in LA because they did a deal through Travelzoo and it sounded and looked great. their website look scrumptious so I was totally in. They got a lot of business from the deal and our tour had 25 people in it.
Well when we got to the first restaurant, they served 3 appetizers for 25 people! WTF!!!! We each got 1 bite of food. That's it. We came hungry thinking, wow we are going to 4 restaurants, I'm sure we will be stuffed by the time we are done. Wrong!
Then we get to the second place. This one served more food, but it was finger foods. And still not that much. The other people on the tour were also unhappy and making jokes saying they felt as if they were in the hunger games fending for themselves.
We decided it was so bad and we were so hungry that we should leave and did. We went to eat a real meal at a nice restaurant nearby.
I then contacted the company for a refund and they said they could not give me one since I bought the deal through travelzoo. Finally after threatening with leaving a bad review, they said they would refund me half the money and have since then ignored my every attempt to contact them about this so called refund.
Travelzoo actually gave a credit, even though this was not their fault but rather the fault of the city tour. Anyway, long story short, if you want to go out to eat, pay too much and come home unhappy and hungry then the city tour will make that happen for you.
I usually dont like bashing companies online, but when a company is so bad they truly dont deserve anyone's hard earned cash.

You are completely right! I think I may have even been your tour guide for that tour. The company didn't care about customers, employees, or partners (restaurants). They mislead the restaurants about what they were getting into, so they were so confused when so many people showed up. I personally paid on several occasions for more food for my guests because the restaurants would be expecting 10-15 people not 25-40!!! My personal cell phone and email address were given out to customers, so people who were frustrated would often call me, sometimes as late as 2 am to complain that a tour had been canceled or that they couldn't get a refund.
These were things that I had no control over. I was never paid back for the things that I purchased and It was like pulling teeth to get paid my hourly wage. Everytime I threatened to quit the regional manager assured me that they were working on the issues and soon the tour would be everything that was promised to both guests and partners. It never happened. I stopped believing them and quit. It wasn't worth the effort, and my name and face being associated with such a bad company. I hear they went out of business.
