They are blackmailing me for an additional $100 in rent. An
alleged "late fee." Their offices were closed on the 1st and somehow

I was supposed to pay rent on that day even though I pay with Credit Card every
month. They threatened to evict me if I didn't pay so I was forced to do so.

Need better training

AUTHOR: analyzeyou85 - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 09, 2013

I am in my third year at a Connor Group property (two different properties with numerous property managers at each), and I have never been reminded to make a rent payment, whether the 1st is a holiday or falls on a Sunday (which has clearly happened a number of times in 3 years).  In fact, I have never received notification regarding holiday hours or closings.  Similar to other large apartment complexes in the area, it may be possible for each property to set up an e-mail listserv, which would make it extremely simple for property managers to alert residents of these situations.  It seems as though the current training/procedures in place for this matter is not working at all.  Whether or not this is intentional on the part of the property managers so they get late fees, I cannot comment on.  Other property management companies and landlords often provide these reminders and I certainly do not think it is too much to ask of the Connor Group.

The Connor Group's rent-payment policy and options

AUTHOR: TheConnorGroup - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 03, 2013

All of The Connor Group's communities require rent payment on the first of the month. After the first, rent will be due, along with late fees. Although we can't categorically say there are no exceptions among our 16,000-plus units nationwide; there are very few exceptions.

We train our property managers and leasing agents to make this policy abundantly clear during the lease-signing process.

We also understand, however, that when the first falls on a Sunday or holiday, that issues can occur. That's why we train our property managers to remind residents when the first is set to fall on one of those days, and remind them of their payment options. There is a secure rent dropbox for check and money orders, available to residents at all times. We also offer several online payment options for residents wishing to pay their rent via credit card.
