I am not a client nor have i ever been a resident at any of the The Doorway to Recovery homes. I did have a son there for a short time, that was a mistake on my part.

The Doorway to Recovery presents itself as being fair and honest, and active in the lives and recoveries of all of its residents. But truthfully i found the opposite to be true. What they are interested in is: rent, and thats it. That is all they they wanted and that is what they got from me.

I was impressed at the sales pitch and of course i wanted the best chance for my son to succeed. Money was not a barrier and i paid whatever they asked for. Truthfully, i dont remember how much i gave them in total. But once they got it, they ignored him and i think maybe even pushed him into relapse. You read that right. i suspect they wanted him to relapse and when he did, they re-rented the same room to someone else while keeping the money i paid.

If i can sue them i will.

Your response sounds terrific, but lets be honest here, we both know what has happened in these homes and where your owner and founder Mark is now. That alone pretty much sums up the story, thanks for your "response".

First and foremost, if you have never entered our homes, never been a resident, and have never been part of the program, you have second hand information which is inaccurate and due to someones relapse experience.

Drug and Alcohol Addiction is a serious physiological and psychological disorder. Your son should seek immediate help/care as he could pose a serious danger and threat to the community, himself, and family.

It is true that we run a business, however, there is no sales pitch that comes with recovery or living in one of our homes. All options are discussed at time of intake, along with what the program consists of, how we handle relapse, and the consequences involved.

We provide all the tools for addicts to become part of functional society, its their choice to work the program and get healthy, or unfortunately, relapse.

As stated in our contract that every client signs upon intake, Discharge/Expulsion from DTR for any reason will result in immediate forfeiture of all monies that I may have not used for room charges, house dues, testing fees and other expenses.

Our main interest is sobriety, not money. The Doorway to Recovery often accepts clients with no funds, and they work the program. Those residents have a 95% success rate in gaining employment within two weeks, which is part of our program.
iving in any home - anywhere - under any circumstance is not free. We charge a nominal fee for the housing and services we provide in the program.

We generally do not deny a second chance for re-entry to the program unless there was severe or violent circumstance. We believe that anyone who truly wants to live a sober lifestyle can and will. Those who do not, will not.

We hope that your son makes a full recovery, and that he prays to god for help. We pray for you (the writer) to find truth and understanding of the addiction disorder and ask god to guide you on a different path to help your son.

Where there is life, there is hope. The Doorway is ALWAYS open to you!

With Blessings,
  The DTR Staff
