The Dubliner Restaurant In Boca Raton I got food poisoning from a hamburger that was not cooked enough. When I called the restaurant a few days later to tell them I was very sick, the manager John Baughman told me to come back to the restaurant and bring my mother and he would treat us to dinner. I went to dinner at The Dubliner Restaurant in Mizner Park in Boca Raton Florida. I ordered a hamburger and when it came it was burnt (I ordered it medium) so I sent it back. I waited 45 minutes for the first burger and when I sent it back they made me wait another 40 minutes. When the second burger arrived it was raw in the middle. I was so hungry that I ate around the edges that seemed cooked enough. I got very sick after eating the burger and had food poisoning - I was vomiting, had diarhea and stomach aches that lasted over a month. I have not eaten a burger since this incident.
When I called the restaurant to complain, instead of offering to return my money, the manager John Baughman said he was very sorry and that I should come back to the restaurant with my mom (or a friend) and eat for free to make up for the bad experience.
I thanked him and did not go to the restaurant for a while. Last week I called the restaurant to say that I wanted to take them up on their offer and the manger was not there but an assistant told me to come in for my free meal. I invited a friend on her birthday.
When I arrived at The Dubliner the assistant manager said that a manager named Shawn would not honor John's invitation. I was very upset and explained that I had a friend whose birthday it was and that I had invited her to join me there. I also had a copy of the receipt from the dinner that had sickened me. When I asked to speak to Shawn, the young fellow told me he was not reachable. I asked for his cell phone number and he just kept smirking at me in a funny way. At that point (before my friend arrived) I was very angry and told him that I insisted that someone call Shawn so I could talk to him. A few minutes later Shawn appeared in person (he had been lying about not being there) and started to insult me. He asked how long after I ate the hamburger did I get sick. He accused me of lying about getting sick and then he had the nerve to say, "Why would you want to eat in a restaurant that made you sick." I told him I was not eating meat at his establishment and that enough time had passed for me to forgive them. Shawn repeatedly insulted me and accused me of lying.
I left very angry and had to take my friend to dinner somewhere else in the shopping area. I write restaurant reviews and have had social columns where I write about restaurants a lot. I can tell you, I have never been insulted like this before by any restaurant, let alone one like this that poisoned me.
They serve meat that has bacteria in it and they don't care if you get sick. I know that the restaurant business is a service business and you do not invite someone and then accuse them of being a liar. I have my receipt and regret not just calling credit card company and stopping the paymnet, but it is too late.
I still write articles for magazines and newspapers and websites and I can't wait to tell the world that The Dubliner in Boca Raton not only poison's people but they insult them afterwards.
