Gym goers in Bayonne NJ beware of The Forum Fitness Club on West 25th Street. I had a gym membership with this gym for a one year long contract. Even though I only went for half a year I still continued to pay for my membership and stayed true to my end of the deal. So once my contract was over, I spoke to the manager "Tony" that I have completed my membership and would like to cancel. This lady made my life hell. She made it so difficult for me to cancel. Even though I paid my final payment she would not let me out and told me that I had to sign paper work in order to cancel the contract but when I tried to do so, she purposely avoided me. Every time I tried to cancel. I was told by the staff that she was the only one that could do it. However I found myself only leaving messages that were never returned. I even asked if it could be faxed to me. No way would they do that, I had to go there to sign but every time I did it was one thing after another. She even brought in the personal trainer that worked with me to pressure me in staying ( I have no problem with the trainer). She even told me one time that she wasn't going to let me go. She was the worst. So finally after I lost it and told her that I was going to file a complaint and through a complete fit. FINALLY my wish to cancel was granted. I set a time to come in and cancel and she said my paper work was ready and would be at the front desk. My work schedule was too difficult and I couldn't make it on the date we agreed on. The next week I scheduled another time to come and sign the contract to cancel. The staff member then told me "oh we thought you were coming in last week, now we have to charge you another month because you went passed the billing date." How is that MY problem.  I told Tony, You knew a month ago that I was trying to cancel, why didn't you tell me about the deadline fee at the beginning of the month when I first came in to cancel. The deadline date was brought to my attention after the  date passed, had she told me that I would have to pay another month, I would have made coming in to sign a greater priority.  So now I have just got a collection letter in the mail and of course they have billed me another month and tacked on more fees. This company is the worst and will do anything to steal your money. I am filing a complaint with the BB and I am going to take my business else where.
