THE GRANT EXPR866-3153967 UT The company charged me $1.99 for information on how to get free grants and my checking account was charged that amount. Then I read more information online and in small print I would be charged $69.95 per month if I didn't cancel within 7 days..I canceled immediately and the representative promised not to put any more charges on my checking account. Now I see a charge of $30 from FreeUpCash Utah

Several weeks ago, I was on the internet searching for a friend to find some sort of free Government Grants and when I came upon the aforementioned site for free grants, I put in all my bank information (which I shouldn't have).
I was to receive a cd with all the information on how to get free grants etc. Upon reading the site information in small print I found that I would be charged $69.95 per month if I didn't cancel before the 7 days or 14 days, can't really remember which.
I immediately called the toll free number and spoke to a representative and canceled my subscription right away. She told me that my account would not be charged anything after the initial charge of $1.99 for the packet with the information they were providing for free grants.
Now I have accessed my checking account online and noticed a charge of $30 from my checking from FreeUpCash. I didn't authorize the company to give out my banking information so that a third party can take money from my checking account. Apparently this is happening to a lot of people out there and the government should step in and stop this fraud. I will have to notify my bank and probably have to change my checking account number so that no one can charge my account anything else. Hopefully people will learn from this and not get scammed, including myself.

You didn't read FAR enough.

At least you found and read SOME of the terms and conditions. 99% of the people making rip  off reports here DON'T.

Your problem lies in not having read the whole of the document.

These sites are ALL the same. See, in addition to whatever they're selling you on those $1.95 CDs, they're bundling other offers in that self-same order. So, not only the grant money crap, but also a "wealth building kit" (or like product) that's the additional $30 you're seeing!

And they're going to take that every month.

Take a closer look, and you may find that they're going to nickel and dime you to death other ways too. One site offers 2 eBooks with your purchase.. one for ONLY $3.77 and the other for $3.73. Wow. That same site ALSO dinged you for $12.95 per month to belong to a Platinum Identity Protection and Repair kit... if you need it or not!

That charge "renews" every month too... Some poor schlep I just responded to peaked out in payments at over $120 in ONE month in payments

Now, thing is, they make you jump through a LOT of hoops to get out of all this crap. Each "product" is overseen by it's OWN department. You have to call them individually! All have different days at which they kick in, so you have to be fast. From what I've read, they can be... hard to get hold of too. Be prepared to spend a day on the phone.

You know what else? If you want to sue, you have to go to the jurisdiction in the T&C that you agreed to when you ordered too... In Canada, there's a site for Canadian grants. It states that we have to go to the U.K. to file for suit. The other guy I've referenced here would have to go from Calif. to Fla.!

That Terms & Conditions page is FULL of traps, and they're spread all over the place in that document. When it comes to crap like this, just take the time and read the whole thing.
