I contracted The Heat Depot to clean air ducts and service furnaces in three homes at $299.00 for each home. Two servicemen came to my home Nov. 10, 2015. The ductwork man did a good job. The furnace guy was briefly left alone and when I returned, he had his back to me, looking down at himself and was adjusting his clothes. Also, he was too far from the basement toilet to use it and I never heard the toilet flush which I can hear on the first floor where I was. At that time, he was NOT servicing my furnace. I found out later, Nov. 27 what he was truly doing. I had a secret stash of $400.00 that was gone. I called The Heat Depot owner the next day and voiced my concerns. Subsequent conversations with the owner, he blamed my kids and said both servicemen denied taking the money. I believe the ductwork service man didn't take the money, but not the furnace guy. My younger daughter was not in my home during this timeframe and my older daughter never knew of my stash and doesn't have my house key. I don't have a basement door, nor do I have a radio or tv so sound carries to the first floor. Also, my older daughter is short and like myself, would require a ladder to access my stash, that is if she knew where to look (unlikely). The furnace guy was much taller and wouldn't require a ladder to access the area.

On top of all this, I prepaid for their services for three homes. I requested a refund for the other two homes. Mid-December, I called my bank and disputed those charges ($598.00). The bank refunded my funds and said they would deal with The Heat Depot. This has been a horrible ordeal. The police can do nothing because I didn't actually see the furnace guy stash my money in his clothing. I believe I saw him trying to hide the money when he was adjusting his clothes and the deed was already done (the $400.00 was in one dollar bills compressed into a brick using my "food saver"). The Heat Depot has treated me in the most disgusting manner. That money was slated for my 2 and 3 year old grandchildrens' educations. I've been saving this way for over two years and then some greedy slob takes it away. Then I have to fight for a refund on my pre-payment. I hope the furnace guy had an extra special Christmas...at the cost to my grandkids. I couldn't face those two little kids today (Christmas Day) knowing I couldn't deliver as promised. You know what you did, guy, and you can live with it. Your boss can live with it too. If the business owner wishes to retaliate against me, I will simply find more sites to tell my true story. Neither the furnace guy nor the owner (who wasn't a witness to what took place) has ever given me an explanation for why the furnace guy was not servicing my furnace for a brief time. Why would the furnace guy be adjusting his clothes at all especially since he hadn't used the toilet? Why wasn't he facing the furnace? The owner simply states that he performs background checks on all his employees. Good luck with that.
