Dear Neighbors and Fellow Animal Lovers,

Certain Residents of The Meadows Mobile Home Park have been trapping cats for years now and may be as many as 10 years or more.  These individuals are trapping any and all cats and calling Pinellas County Animal Services to pick them up. These individuals do not care if the cat is someones pet or not.  Most of these cats are euthanized.  You should be aware that if your pet is trapped and impounded, you only have a limited number of days to pay a fine and regain custody of your pet.  Please be advised that if you do not claim your pet, it could be adopted out or more than likely euthanized.

Upon investigating the disappearance of our three cats that occurred over the past few years, we have heard allegations of at least one animal being left in a trap to die. There have also been witness accounts of animals being forced into the traps by the trappers. These trappers feel that they are doing all of our communities a service, and have been know to brag about the HUNDREDS of cats they have trapped since the birth of their community.

Our intent is to simply inform our local neighbors and animal lovers of these practices. The only way to avoid this hazard is to keep your pet(s) indoors. If that is not possible, you may want to consider having your animal micro-chipped. If your pet is chipped, you should be notified upon impound.  Hopefully then you will be able reclaim your pet and potentially save its life.

It took us a few years to acquire this knowledge. We dont want to see anyone else in our community go through the pain and heartache that we have suffered by the loss of our pets at the hands of these Trappers.  We know that most residents of this general vicinity are responsible pet owners and keep their pets contained.  However, if your pet does get loose, maybe you will have some idea where to start looking before it is too late.

If you would like to send a letter of protest to this Community and/or Trappers here is their contact information:

Main and mostly sole Trapper:

I have attached a few photos of a recently trapped cat. This cat was trapped by Donald R Ormrod and placed outside of his home waiting for a pick-up from Pinellas County Animal Services. This cat had no food or water in his cage and was injured with bleeding wounds. This was a male cat that had most of the skin missing from his nose and had a bleeding paw from the results of Mr. Ormrods trapping.

We sincerely appreciate any and all responses, considerations and actions of legal protest.  These cats have done nothing wrong...they are just living.  Some of these cats were someone's pet and put to death for no reason.  Thank you for assisting and caring.
