I've been down on my luck the past few weeks, with the holidays approaching and losing my job due to the terrible situation with the economy. I'm a college student and that makes things even harder. As a last desperate resort I started applying for some loans to pay mounting debts, and finally one day I got an approval. I was approved for six thousand dollars, and faxed in all the documents they asked for (I didn't send any money). I waited about three weeks after they said the check would be mailed, which was odd. The guy I talked to, "David Coleman", seemed nice but was very hard to reach, which was even odder. It seemed as though nobody ever answered the phone or returned calls. Finally, today, I looked in the mail and there was an envelope: two checks, one for forty eight hundred and one for twelve hundred. Turns out, they want you to send in a twenty percent "security deposit" before the rest of the money can be released...very suspicious, especially since the check was from a bank called Pannonia in Fort Lauderdale when this company is supposedly located in Canada.The check even has a star of David on it. Confused/slightly amused, I looked up the name of the bank and found out that not only was the bank a Jewish credit union actually located in Pennsylvania, but there was rip off report on it as well. Needless to say, the check is sitting right next to me on the table and I am sending it in to the proper authorities. I was already suspicious after the check hadn't come in when "David" said it would and have notified the FTC. Not only are they dishonest but they use the name of a religion-based bank to conduct their activities, which to me is the worst thing someone can do. It's not fair that people prey on those like me that are having a hard time financially and pull stunts that will ruin their bank account, if not their lives, and get to live happily ever after. Meanwhile, everyone else works hard for what they make. I don't even have money to pay bills. If I had no sense of morality I would cash those checks anyway, but not only do I not want to go to jail but I have a belief in karma and I know that eventually these guys will get what they deserve.
