This company, the sports outdoor store, seems like some kind of investment scheme. I ordered some ammunition 2/8/2008. Simple enough. I used my credit card for the purchase after reading their policy which specifically states: "We do not apply any charges to your credit card until we ship the merchandise. All we get up front is approval from your credit card company for the purchase." I placed the order and my credit card was charged for everything I ordered. I later received a confirmation that ALL items I ordered had been shipped.
Well, I recieved a package about a week later that was MISSING 3 out of 4 items I'd purchased. I immediately contacted the company and received a reply from some guy claiming to be the CEO. He gave me numerous excuses about how the items I ordered were on back-order and had a "well if you find it elsewhere, then so what" kind of attitude. I didn't really care about the attitude as I didn't plan to continue to do business with this company. My problem is that this guy hadn't acknowledged that his company was holding my money against the store's own policy and, therefore, Indiana state law related to merchants making false statements.
He stated that he was issuing a refund immediately and that was several weeks ago. I haven't received any type of credit back to my card. I contacted my credit card company and the BBB as this is a big deal to me when merchants willfully take money from their customers, don't deliver the goods and use unscrupulous business practices to make it look like they're generating revenue they don't really have.
Although I never plan to purchase from this company again, I am more concerned with making sure nobody else has this type of experience with this company. There are other choices when you are spending your hard-earned money. Choices that result in an efficient and pleasant experience are what people deserve....especially in this economy. I urge you to spend your money somewhere other than The Sports Outdoor Store, with it's unethical, disrespectful and time-wasting business practices.

You are exactly right. These people are scam artists. I ordered two months ago and have not received a refund, customer service or my goods. I got duped.

A few days ago the owner of this store openly stated that I never asked for my money back!! What a BOLD-FACED LIE!! Thank goodness I kept the emails he sent. Directly stated that HE would personally issue the refund and that was over a month ago now. EXPOSED you, @$$#0!e, for what you truly are! I am just getting started.
