I worked in the New Bruswick location for close to a year. During that time, I noticed a very high turn-over rate. I thought it was just braiders. This was not the case. The "recruiting" practice is to hire anyone, with or without experience or a license. The policy at the onset of my emplyment was, stylist recieved 50% of their earnings, with or without a license. After a few months, it changed to stylist with a license got 50-60% while unlicensed stylist or student stylist recived 30-40% of their earnings. I have heard of sliding scales.

This was not a sliding scale policy because the commission did not change according to how much you earned, but whether or not you had a license to touch (or beauty enhancement) another way I knew it was not sliding scale was because stylist that did not have a license at all, and at least one whoo had not even enrolled much less completed beauty school was given a lead stylist position and recieved 60% of her earnings. So if you want to work there, beware, you have to be very conniving to earn a living wage. I have now recovered financially, until I recieved a letter from my native state tax department saying I owe.

This is because when I asked for a company 1099, it took nearly 5 months for me to get it. I have been a stylist for a very long time (which is NOT valued in that company) and I have NEVER been harmed by my career choice. This job brought me financial ruin as soon as I opted to work with them full time. I am very angry that I am still in tax debt for the first time ever in my career. I am hurt, and as a single mom, it compounds my frustration. Never the less, if you are an adult with responsibilities, be very careful taking a job with this franchise. I will not be the voice for others, but imagine the problems of the women who only got 30-40 % of their salaries.
