Thermador, BSH Home Appliances Corp. Defective and dangerous oven. Refuses to make repairs. This company does not even pretend to care about their customers once they get your money. Huntington Beach, California

We have had problems with the Thermador oven we purchase soon after it was installed. The oven igniter would not work when you turned on the gas. So gas would just fill the air in the kitchen and sometimes suddenly the igniter would spark and cause a big flame over the cooktop. We would literly have to turn the oven on and stand back and hope it would light. We finally just got one of those long fireplace lighters and kept it next to the $6000.00 oven to light the burner.

We had Thermador sent out repair men about a half a dozen times or more to fix the problem but each time all they would do is replace the igniter unit that would work for a few days before the same problem would start again.

I even asked on of the technicians that came out why do they keep doing the same repair if its obvious the part they are using has an inherent design issue. He just shrugged his shoulders and said "this is the part they send us".

It seemed to me that the wire insulation on the igniter was the problem because I could hear the spark inside the oven rather than at the burner. So the spark was shorting out to the metal frame most of the time.

This went on until the warranty expired with no permanent fix. They informed us that further service calls would incur a charge but they did have the nerve to offer to sell me another $6000.00 oven to replace the defective one. I told them that I would not own another thermador product even if they offered it for free.
