I bought a new Thompson Center Compass rifle (9/12/2017). Upon checking it out I found the trigger was at 6.5 lbs. Since I bought it thinking it had an adjustable trigger, tried to adjust it. I found I could only adjust it down to 5.5 pounds and still past the drop test!
I then contacted the TC repair dept via email and found, by a backhanded and vague way, they do not have adjustable triggers on these rifles anymore! I was told that what ever pounds it came with, would be what it was. (Note: another person emailed TC and asked it the rifle's trigger adjusted the stated 3.5 to 5 lbs. He was told the gun doesn't go to 3.5 lbs anymore)
I told TC that was not acceptable because they are advertising them as having an adjustable trigger.
On another call to the repair dept I was told him I was able to adjust it from 6.5 lbs to 5.5 lbs. I told them it was not acceptable.
I told him an adjustable trigger in the gun culture is adjustable between 3.5 lbs up to and including 5 lbs and everything in between. My rifle is above that range. They did not care. They implied to me they will not give any info on the trigger specs anymore.
I should tell you they had a recall on this rifle's trigger that ended last year (2016). And you guessed it, for a trigger that would fire when it was dropped!
What all this boils down to is Thompson Center is hiding behind legal mumbo gumbo and vague semantics, they did not really fix the trigger problem. They think they fixed their legal problems!
But they are still advertizing it as a adjustable trigger!
They think they can hide behind having done a recall (people mistakenly think it is fixed). Then using vague language to conceal the truth. Like if your rifle has a 6.5 lb pull and you can adjusted it down to 5.5 lb, that constitutes an adjustment! Even though it is still below the industry standard of and adjustable trigger!
I submit this is fraud......and it was not a true recall at all. All they did was put in a harder spring in the trigger so it would pass a drop test at higher lbs.
Here is some supporting eveidence.....
Here is an article that was written June 9, 2017 showing they supplied this online mag with a Compass rifle with a 2 lb 13 oz trigger. This is the 2nd page of the article.
