Thrifty Rental Car at Philadelphia International Airport Dishonest and Unethical Philadelphia Pennsylvania

At the Thrifty Rental Counter at the Philadelphia International Airport on May 16, 2014, I was pressured to buy the Toll Plate Pass though I told the agent that I was only driving to Wilmington, DE, just 20 minutes away. I asked him how many tolls I would have to use and how much they cost. He stated that he did not know. I noticed a funny expression on the face of the Thrifty agent next to him so I asked that agent how many tolls I would have to pay driving to and from Wilmington. He replied "none". I thanked him for his honesty. The agent handling my reservation blatently lied to me.

Then my agent tried to charge me more than $60 more for my guaranteed Hotwire rate. I balked at this and asked to know why. He falsely stated that "new taxes were implemented a few days ago". I showed him my Hotwire Receipt and requested that he drop those "taxes". He responded "I don't have to, but I can if I want to".  Well, he dropped the fee. He was rude, nasty and showed disdain for me.

It was pouring down rain and by the time I got to my car, I was quite wet and tired. The car smelled like cigarette smoke. I told the gate agent when exiting the parking lot and asked that this be noted on my rental agreement. He told me that was not recessary.

This experience has shown me that Thrifty cannot be trusted. I have reported this to Hotwire and Thrifty.
