Approximately three months after Thunderbolt replaced the engine in my son's Jeep it developed a knock. The Jeep was taken back to Thunderbolt for warranty work ONLY. They were not authorized to do anything else. Thunderbolt had us sign a estimate. There was not an estimate (price)on it. There was nothing filled out on it but our information and the word Knocking. When asked what it was for they said it was so they could do the work on the Jeep. In the place where a signature is required to open the motor for inspection we DID NOT sign.

The next day THUNDERBOLT called and said they would not honor the warrenty because of two rings put on the oil filter. They said the Jeep was run without oil. They said the engine was out of the JEEP and we would have to pay $400.00 to pick up the Jeep with the engine out. They wanted $800.00 if they put the engine back in the car.

There was no reasonable explanation as to why the engine had to be removed when we did not authorize it to be done. It was not necessary to remove the engine to see the oil filter and decide not to honor the warrenty.

They were told that we did not want them to do anything else to the Jeep. WE would pick it up and bring it to someone else. The next day my son went to THUNDERBOlT. He packed the engine in the back seat of the Jeep and told Thunderbolt we would be there the next day to tow the car out. Although the engine had been removed from the car it was still intact.

When we arrived the next day to pick it up the JEEP the engine was in a box in pieces. The engine had been removed from the JEEP (the back seat of the jeep where we had put it)and taken apart, it was put in the back of the car in a box in pieces.

Not only was THUNDERBOLT not authorized to do this the were expressly told NOT TO.

Even before we took it back to Thunderbolt we had trouble with the work done by Thunderbolt.

Two days after the car was received it had to be towed because all the hydrolic fluid leaked out of the clutch, because the bleader valve came loose, because it was not properly tightened after the clutch was blead at Thunderbolt.

About a month later the car had to be towed again because a motor mount installed by Thunderbolt broke and had to be replaced.

We had a signature to work on the jeep mentioned and the only way to determine the damage to the engine was to dissasemble it. louise admits her son installed the oil filter incorrectly and 800 dollars to fix a jeep which in normally a 2000 job souds like a pretty good deal. louise was very nasty and rude and really doesnt have a leg to stand on. A motor mount broke that her mechanic reinstalled and it is our fault that HER MECHANIC reinstalled it incorrectly. Its a shame that somebody can post something like this and the business is never notified. We do an average of 200 motor and transmission installs a month. Occasionally we get a customer that just cant accept they were wrong and fires off on one of these sounding boards. We do excellent work regardles of what Louise says.
