We just discovered that this happened to two other victims on this site, so we are reporting ours as well.

The transaction started on eBay in October 2016. We were outbid on an oboe, but shortly thereafter contacted by the seller. She stated that the winning bidder couldn't pay until the end of November, and we were offered the instrument for our last bid price, which was $3050. We were presented with a contract and asked to wire the money in exchange for the oboe being sent. We sent money to their Deutsche Bank account in Madrid.

Zoe claimed it was sent with Correos and gave us a tracking number. Then she claimed it was being sent back to Spain because "the receiver could not be found."Perhaps you've had a missed call and you did not return the call?" She did not understand why it was being returned and asked us to check that the information we provided to her was correct. She suggested delivery through DHL or FedEx. This was her last correspodence with us.

We tried emailing and calling several times. We also contacted the Correos, but they said the package that matched our tracking number was not addressed to us. We filed an IC3 complaint with the FBI, but haven't had any results.
