...this guy is the WORST!! He is selling low-end campground memberships from 3 cheesy web sites to a run down Texas RV park and then not allowing you to leave!! Like NORMAN BATES!! You can't cancel your membership under threat from a mysterious "Monterey Collections Agency"...ooooh...I'm so scared Mr. Jim Jerde!! His famous 5 star facility is nothing more than a stagnating septic-pond with hookups.

You don't want to go there...he lures the unsuspecting in with his "affiliates", Coast to Coast and RPI. His place is a wreck. Anyway, I would like to find out more on this Monterey Collections outfit, as I am trying to bail out right now and will be dealing with them soon. I suppose they are based in Mn., as well. Maybe his own shell company. The poor elderly couples on SSI are no match for his con game, and would end up in the streets if this guy had his way...I see he has lost his BBB ratings and is likely in violation of FCC or FTC stautes for web based swindle.

He is likely having a wave of disaffected members pulling the plug on his campground memberships, and is likely hurting financially himself. DON'T PAY HIM!!! If anyone has info on the Monterey Collections outfit, please post so I can report them to BBB also!! They are facilitating a criminal enterprise!! Anymore victims, speak up now, so we can shut him down!! National Assoc. for Members of Campgound Resorts has info on filings complaints with the State AG and FTC...that's the way to go...mass filings!!!

Looking for Help

AUTHOR: Ralph - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, July 19, 2010

Hello Rudy.

I have the same problem with Timberlodge. They have turned my $99 fee into this Monterey Collections. Now they say I owe $229 to Timberlodge. I have been asking for a way out from Timberlodge, but they insist $599. Plus I would have to pay the $229 first. I have been pleaing with them by email to let me talk to the manager, owner, whoever? I am hoping thru this Ripoff site all of us can get together some how?

Is there anybody out there that can help us?

Thanks,

RGH

Still Stuck Rebuttal

AUTHOR: Jim Jerde - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 30, 2009

I have checked with Timber Lodge and gathered additional information:

That the statements made by Mrs. Haymond are inaccurate regarding lifetime payments. That in 2006 Timber Lodge provided them with several options to cancel the agreement. That the prepayment option is not a provision of the agreement but was made in good faith in order to accommodate their request to cancel. That if they would have taken advantage of this option the membership agreement would have been canceled back in 2006 Hardly a lifetime commitment. That those option remain open or should they wish to provide a reasonable alternative option they would be willing to consider it.

An example of an industry standard agreement would be the agreement to belong to Thousand Trails. Notwithstanding the initial price ($3000-7500.00) The annual dues are right around $500.00 pr year. The agreement is a 10 year agreement. So lets say you want to drop after the second year you simply pay out the remaining eight years (8 X $500.00 = $4000.00)

Still stuck in the mire of an "industry-standard" contract

AUTHOR: Dora - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, July 19, 2009

We have written to the MN BBB, the Texas BBB, and both pretty much tell us we're on our own. And, no, we're not people who tries to escape a contract. Our credit rating is supreme and we have NEVER defaulted on any loan, ever! Sounds like Jeannie from Lakeside is an insider of Timberlodge to us. We've never read anywhere such a glowing report of the place. It is just as "Rudy" described it, not exactly a dump, but not what was reported either. But that's not even the point. The problem is the "industry-standard" contract, which Jim Jerde so solemnly stands by. Where, can anyone tell me, is there ANY contract that allows ANY company to enslave a person for a lifetime of payment? A lifetime? This is standard? I just don't get it, the attorneys general are responsible for the law in their respective states, yet will do nothing about this scandalous practice. We are not paying and Monterey (MFS) faithfully calls several times a week. They've bought a useless piece of paper as far as we're concerned. Please tell us reporter who said MN BBB helped, how you got their cooperation. Waiting with baited breath, truly.

Don't Believe what you read here!!! Here is another side of thes story

AUTHOR: Jeanie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 26, 2009

I can't believe what trash people are writing about such good people. We have had a membership for years with this company and they have been nothing but helpful to use when trying to make reservations, storing our RV and assisting us with affiliation questions.

It is apparent that the people writing on this forum only are trying to get out of paying for their obligation. I would assume this company is not their only victim and if we had the privilge of looking at their credit reports, we would see this is a way of life for them. WHAT A SHAME THAT A COUPLE OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT TO PAY THEIR BILLS WRECK IF FOR THE ONES WHO DO.

I too paid hardly nothing for my membership. I went on several resort tours and they wanted over $3500 plue 3 times the dues. I would gladly pay what they offer. SHAME ON YOU!! Jeanie Lakeland, Florida

Jim Jerde Ripoff

AUTHOR: Rita - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 10, 2009

I too have been subjected to this ripoff and have been contacted by Monterey Collections. These people have a Carlsbad, California address, but the info included inside was from Timberlodge RV Resort in Apple Valley MN. Probably owned by Jerde as part of this extortion attempt to ruin my credit and collect on an improper debt. I would like to know more on how the Minneapolis Better Business Bureau can assist in getting rid of this scam.

Another Victim of Jerk Inc.

AUTHOR: Logan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I was also a victim of Jim Jerks scam memberships for rv'ers. I got out of it by going thru the Minneapolis, MN BBB. Anyone needing me to testify in a class action lawsuit against this man or any of his companies I will do so gladly.
