I was contacted by James Peters at Timeshare Solutions Realty (www.timesharesolution.net) regarding the sale of my timeshare.  I've received a number of calls since I stupidly placed an ad on Craiglist.org.  James gave a great sales pitch and told me it'd cost $550.00 for the "marketing fee" to list my condo with his group.  And while that may have been true, I did some checking and found out that you don't need to spend money upfront to list your condo.  I've not been scammed, but suspect I would've if I'd given away my $550.00.

For all those out there who want to know the down low -- I found it!  I visited the Better Business Bureau web site and found accredited timeshare real estate brokers.  I spoke with Carrie at (((competitor's name redacted))).  She gave me all the info I needed.  A few things:  a). timeshares aren't selling and sell for very little.  b). you don't need to put money down, you just need to list and be patient.  d). visit (((redacted))) for a complete listing of legitimate timeshare brokers.  e). list your condo on many sites to increase exposure.

Carrie advised that I list with several brokers (non-exclusive, open listing) and then be patient.  Her office adds a commission to whatever I list my condo at.  Be prepared to negotiate...if you check eBay, you'll find many people who aren't able to give their timeshare away.

Anyway, that's what I learned.  Hope it helps everyone out there from getting ripped off.  Remember, you don't need to spend one penny to list your timeshare!
