My husband and I stupidly purchased a timeshare in Orlando FL in 7/04. We were very disappointed with our purchase so when we received an e-mail from a company that told us that they could sell it for us in as little as 2-6 months we decided to pay the $799 and let them sell it for us. How dumb we were. Not only did we get ripped of by the resort that sold us our timeshare but we just found out that we got royally screwed by this company that sympathized with us because they had dealt with so many other people who had been foolishly talked into buying a stupid timeshare that we really did not want or could afford.

We paid the $799 in January of 2006. We did not receive any offers or calls or anything else from this company for months, so in July I decided to call the company and inquire why nothing was happening and why I had not heard from them...the girl who answered the phone gave me all sorts of poor excuses so I asked to speak with the manager/supervisor. I was transferred to a woman, I want to say that her name was Chris or Deb who stated that she was the owner of the company and that she sympathized with the fact that I had lost $20,000 buying the timeshare plus the $800+ that I was spending on maintenance plus the $799 that I paid them to sell it for me. I told her that they really needed to sell it as I was drowning in debt and both my husband and I had just been laid off from our jobs and could not afford to feed our family. She stated that she was sorry and that she had seen many similar cases. She suggested that I lower the price, which I did.

I once again lowered my price in August of 2006 and then again in November of 2006. At this point I was down to $4500 asking price. Then in December of 2006, my husband recieved a call from them saying that they had a buyer for $2500. We told them that we would only go as low as $3000. The man agreed and we proceed to go through the process of working with a woman named Deb (coincidence?) from a title company named timeshare-title.com to do our closing. This was in the beginning of December 2006. After a few weeks I had not heard anything, even though I had now stupidly sent them a copy of my deed and signed consent forms for title searches, etc...On Dec. 18, I e-mailed Deb to inquire why this was taking so long to close on a $3000 cash deal. She e-mailed me back with all of this mumbo jumbo about everyone being in different states and her not being in the same county in Florida as where the deed was recorded...blah...blah...blah. This was not the first time I had bought or sold real estate, etc...Then in the beginning of January, Deb from the title company forwarded me an e-mail from the buyer stating that something had come up and he was no longer interested in the deal. VERY CONVENIENT. I believe all of this was set up by the owner/manager or whoever she was of this company whose website was www.timesharesquicksale.com, but whom whenever I received an e-mail from them signed it Timeshares Quick Sales International, and whom I just found out charged my credit card under the name Timesharesbyowner.

In the time since I have bought my timeshare I have been harrassed through the mail, through e-mails, on my home phone, they even managed to get my cell phone number by these so-called timeshare resale companies. They all give the same spiel and they all of course will sell it right away becuase there are so many people looking for a timeshare to buy...BullS***...and of course they all want money up front. The only reason that I am even writing this now is because I had recently recievd an e-mail in my spam folder from one of these type of companies. I do not know if they are legit or not but I was curious to see what they had to say so I responded and gave them my number to call me. A gentleman did call and I learned some more interesting facts about this giant scam world...it seems that there are quite a few of these types of companies out there who will take peoples money and then change disappear without providing the service they were promised. I was promised that for the $799 that I paid they would advertise my timeshare for as long as need be to sell it. What's more is that these companies not only disappear with your money but they actually don't disappear they just change the name of their companies and do this again to someone else, maybe even the same people they ripped off before, who are so desperate to sell our timeshares so that we can stop throwing our hard-earned dollars out the window for maintenace and tax fees on these stupid timeshares.

He also informed me that they also do these little things like tell you that they have a buyer and then at the last minute soimething happens and the deal falls through. I was so intrigued that I went online to pull up the ad for my TS and guess what, the web address was no longer valid, e-mail was no longer valid, and when I tried to call the phone number I had for them it was no longer in service. I was fuming mad!!! I am now working with my credit card company to try and get my money back. People beware of these scams...the resorts that sell the timeshares are scamming you and so are
?most? of these resale companies. I learned the hard way and so did many others. Hopefully there is someone out there who will read this...I know it's long, but I had to say my piece...and try to help all of us little people that let ourselves get rooked by this million and billion dollar industries. Guess what folks, rich people...people with money...don't buy timeshares...just us poor middle class schmucks who want something better for our families.
