I am trying to warn people of businesses that I have dealt with in the past that are unscrupulous. One such place is Timmerman Self Storage in Gettysburg, PA. I relocated for a job and the project ended and I was laid off. I immediately called the Timmermans and explained my situation and they assured me that they would work with me while I was waiting for unemployment to kick in. I got a notice from them that said that if I do not pay them by a certain date that they would open the locker on that date and auction the contents. I called them immediately and assured them that I would be there that weekend which was before the date that they said that they would open the locker and they said that that would be fine. I had managed to get a part-time job and couldnt make the 1 hour drive until that weekend. I arrived early that Saturday and found that they had already opened my locker and started unloading the contents. Besides my things, I had my dads flag from his Navy military funeral and a few boxes of his other things, family research, my scrapbooks, things of my mom and sister that they could not take down to FL when they relocated down there, a few boxes of other my sisters baby things that I was saving for her kids, and my rubberstamps that I used to make bookmarks for Womens Aglow meetings.. At least they were kind enough return my dads flag. They figured that if I was saving these things for a year that there must be something of value in it.
Even though I showed up prior to the date that they listed in their letter they broke into my locker and stole my personal effects and would not let me have what was let. The local police would not help even though I showed them the letter. I was a month behind.
This was unethical and since I was unable to hire an attorney, I lost everything.
They were adding (construction) on to their home at our (customers) expense.
Be wary of dealing with this company and know that the local police will not help if you find yourself in a similar situation.
Avoid using this company...

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Absolutely False
AUTHOR: joftss - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, June 30, 2011
I vividly remember this tenant from several years ago. This woman was more than 6 months behind in her rent at the time her unit was emptied. As she agreed to in her lease agreement, after being in default for 30 days, with written notice, the unit would be emptied. Only after falling 6 months behind in her rent and sending her numerous written notices, making repeated phone calls to her
and receiving NO payments, was the unit emptied.
She repeatedly said she would mail or deliver a payment and none would arrive. After ample opportunity to make payments on the rent of this storage unit (6 months as opposed to the 30 days she agreed to in the lease agreement) and not doing so, there was no other choice than to empty the unit which was donated to local charity or hauled to the trash dump.
The first truthful thing mentioned in this report was returning to her a flag that was found. In order to not disrespectfully dispose of it, it was saved to be donated to a local veteran organization. When she learned it was still in our possession and expressed a desire to have it we graciously offered it to her.
The only other truthful thing mentioned was that she did contact the local police who in fact told her that according to her lease we were more than generous to her and legally she was in default of her lease for which there was no disputing (she was told the same thing by the local magistrates office as well). She became so irate with the police that the officer contacted our office to make us aware of her threatening behavior and asked us to please contact them if she called
or approached us in any threatening manner.
During the time that she was renting, the business was owned by David, who has since passed away. In response to the comment about home construction he was renting a small condo due to his handicap and the place never underwent any remodeling or construction. Since Davids passing, his children have taken ownership and continue to run the business with the same high moral standard as David did and continue to maintain an excellent rapport with our tenants. We make every effort to be patient and understanding to our customers needs as the vast majority of our tenants would concur.
I hope this rebuttal will clear up and questions or concerns in regard to the false accusations in this ladys report.
