Todd Hanson Ph.D.

Director of Training and Education

Dr. Hanson is the director of training and education for WexTrade Financial.

Dr. Hanson served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Force Reconnaissance and 1st Air and Naval Gunfire Liaison Company with 0321 and 2531 Military Occupational Specialties. During the course of his enlistment, his theaters of operation were Asia and the Middle East with combat operations in Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq. Throughout his military career, he was meritoriously promoted a total of five times and holds many awards and certifications (see Military Credentials).

Following his military service, Dr. Hanson began his professional career in computer security in Silicon Valley, Calif. He developed encryption software and provided ethical hacking services and security audits to Fortune 500 companies during the infancy of the Internet. He led a nationwide team of security engineers responsible for research and development in categories including: intrusion detection; emerging data network service security infrastructure design; Internet and intranet security engineering; public key technology and infrastructure issues; Internet and intranet firewall and router integration; and client/server authentication techniques.

In addition to Dr. Hansons extensive background in information security management and information technology systems engineering and administration, he is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a Certified Information Security Manager, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.

Dr. Hanson then focused his attention on the healthcare, financial and logistics industries, utilizing his software engineering experience to develop secure, enterprise level software solutions. During his fifteen years in these industries, he has held positions ranging from contracted software development to chief executive officer. As CEO of Synergy Software Development (NASDAQ: SGYS), Dr. Hanson led the company from concept to funding and public offering, utilizing his software development technology as a cornerstone. As a chief information officer for two separate public companies, (NASDAQ: USTK and TRUC), Dr. Hanson leveraged his custom-developed technologies to raise more than $35 million in funding for the firms.

Dr. Hanson holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley, California, a Masters of Science in Electronic Commerce from National University, California and a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

While at UC Berkeley, Dr. Hanson developed a process whereby nonlinear mathematical algorithms can be utilized in financial time series matrices. His findings, named the Hanson Sieve, were published in the Journal of Mathematics. Dr. Hanson went on to design automated trading strategies for the financial markets, relying heavily on his Hanson Sieve as well as chaos and complexity theory.

During the course of his Ph.D., he taught graduate courses in quantitative finance and Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) system development using Lisp, Java, SQL, XML, ISO C++ and Visual C++.NET and UML.

Dr. Hanson has created numerous popular and successful trading systems that are employed by fund managers, brokerage houses and traders worldwide. Having been a futures and FX day-trader and system developer for more than ten years, he has performed extensive research into pricing behavior, predictive models and valuation techniques. By combining his education and experience, he has created entirely new technical analysis indicators, researched and tested thousands of predictive techniques utilizing fundamental analysis, technical analysis and statistical analysis to discover reliable indicators and synergistic indicator sets.

Throughout his career, Dr. Hanson has also performed numerous financial consulting projects for a myriad of companies in finance and has applied his expertise in statistical pattern recognition to projects ranging from mining financial transactions data to statistical arbitrage trading strategies.

For the past three years, Dr. Hanson has been working on a ground-breaking project: developing a fully automated day trading system, whereby the program formulates all buy/sell/hold decisions, allocates appropriate amounts of capital to specific trades, and places orders electronically and autonomously. This program, Failsafe Trader, is now complete and operational through Titan Trading Analytics. Failsafe Trader is the culmination of deep research into non-linear dynamics, A.I. systems, genetic algorithms, fractal theory and sacred geometry, as well as numerous cycle-timing models.

Dr. Hanson is currently engaged in quantitative proprietary trading as well as consulting and developing software for money managers. He writes a quantitative trading blog, www.livetradesignals.com, which is in the process of being syndicated to multiple financial news services.
