I was contacted cold by this service. They swore I filled out an on line application (but eventually mentioned it could have been as long as two years ago). They called me at least 8 times even though I told them I was not really interested. I finally agreed to go in and hear their sales pitch. When I got there I was told that I would begin meeting men the week I signed up, that the service normally cost $6000 but I was given a great deal for $200 per month for 24 months, that I would be able to see photos of the people I was talking to and that I could resell the service if I changed my mind and that the company would help me to sell it. I stupidly signed the contract and immediately had second thoughts. when I called the following day, the caseworker talked me into waiting just to meet the first person..of course that was after the three day grace period of terminating the contract. A week later I was given a guys name and but told they would have to call him first to give me his number. two weeks later they still had not reached him. I was given a second man's name who lived in a town I had never heard of though I clearly stated I was only interested in people from the metro area. The third guy I actually talked to on the phone and we had absolutely no common interests and he seemed about as interested in pursuing this as I did. Then I got the second call from the compant that I could update my membership (for only $500!!) but of course it was a special only running today and I was hand selected. I told hte person on the phone "NO!" 4 times and finally I hung up on her as she insisted that I needed to cash in on this opportunity. I called back the next day and talked to the first person I spoke with when I went in the office. She had told me that day she would be my personal counselor...but when I tried to call back I was told that she no longer handled my case after sales and that this other person who tried to sell me the upgrade was now my counselor. I finally did get through to the first person I spoke with and she denied telling me that I could see pictures, that I would MEET men immediately(suggested I should talk to them on the phone as FRIENDS) and when I asked about selling the membership she said I was on my own...had to sell on Ebay or Craigs list or to a friend. I would not con a friend like this and I think I will have a hard time selling on the net. She promised to send me information on how to sell this membership but two weeks later it has not arrived. My second payment came out of my bank account today. I am probably pretty much stuck but would be interested in a class action if anyone else knows where to begin to start this.

Re-sale option

I'm a member of the San Antonio branch, and I feel as if I have been ripped off, but I can't say that I can legally file any charges against Together Dating. They claim to be the most successful dating organization, resulting in a marriage every day, but I haven't had anything in common with any of the matches I've been provided with so far.
So it seems as if they just randomly put people together or their matching system isn't that good, but part of the reason I felt comfortable signing up is that they offered me the re-sale option, meaning I can sell any unused matches to somebody else. I thought they would help me on this, but apparently they tell me I'm on my own, because it's not their problem as long as they have my money. So what should I do to resell my membership, anybody have suggestions?

I have a question.......
AUTHOR: Adolph - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, November 05, 2007
....for both the clients and the dating / mating service: Why, if the service is successful , would a person need continuing YEARS of referrals? If the service is legitimate, one could assume a person would (might?) find a mate within the first six months or at the most a year. What would be the use of continuing "meeting new people" after that? IMHO that could only jeopardize any truly worthwhile relationship one might be fortunate enough to develop.
Jeez! Once Mr. or Ms. perfect is found, it's time to quit looking.

I WAS RIPPED OFF BY THESE PEOPLE TO
AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

I was ripped off by the location here in Houston, TX and they never did anything to fix the problem. Employee's changed weekly and the men that are members are drug heads. I basically lost $1600 and the BBB of Houston did nothing for me.

Complaint resolution

I was contacted yesterday by Shane the owner of Together Dating Services here in San Antonio. He was very pleasant and agreeable and said that he wanted to make me happy. He has offered to cancel the balance of what I owe them. And I am very happy with this. I do not agree with everything in his rebuttal...I only spoke with one person of the three they claimed to have set me up with and he read me the notes that were put in my file by his employees that were not completely accurate but the bottom line is he is willing to call this a wash for both parties. I have already paid $1400 and this seems like quite enough to teach me a lesson NOT to do this. For the record he also offered to set me up with 5-10 new matches...not sure I am going to take him up on that simply because I don't think the way that the system works is feasible for me, but it might work for other people. It was a nice gesture of goodwill since I have paid a considerable sum of money.
All in all my thoughts are that I think the owner is more than reasonable and wants to maintain a good reputation for the company. It would have been great if I could have reached him sooner but at least I am not stuck paying $200 a month for the next three years.

#4 UPDATE Employee
Accurate information regarding Linda's complaint
AUTHOR: Manager - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Together of San Antonio regrets that Linda is not satisfied with her membership, and would like to speak to her about a possible resolution. The actual facts regarding Linda's situation, however, are not reflected in her complaint. The facts regarding Linda's membership are that Linda filled out a Single's Survey on our website on 2-6-07. Consequently, our call to her was not "cold" as she states in her complaint. In fact, our call was solicited by Linda's email. A copy of her email is in Linda's Member File in our office, and is indiputable.
Linda was called and invited to come to our office for an initial interview. On 3-14-07, Linda came to our office, and after seeing how our program works, she chose to join our service. Linda's enrollment couselor is a 7 year veteran of our company, and contrary to Linda's complaint, she was never told that she could see pictures. Linda was provided 3 referrals by our company. Our office pre-approves each referral we make for our Clients, which means that we call both members of a referral, and read them their referred party's profile. The information shared to the member about their referral is also the same information that we use to make the referral. Each member has the right to accept, or reject, their referrals.
On all 3 occasions our office called Linda for her approval, she approved each man we referred to her as acceptable. Contrary to Linda's complaint, Linda joined our service on 3-14-07, and she was called by our office with her first referral on 3-18-07; it was not a week later as she alleges in her complaint. Linda was provided her second referral on 3-22-07, and her third referral on 4-1-07. Linda states in her complaint, "...I had second thoughts," and it is our opinion that this was the real problem.
Together in no way misled or poorly serviced Linda; she simply had second thoughts. Together is committed to helping our members achieve all of their relationship goals; we are also commmitted to our customer's happiness with our service, and their decision to join our service. We will make every attempt to contact Linda and see if we can't offer her an acceptable resolution. We look forward to resolving this issue with Linda, and having Linda update her initial complaint.

Same boat here

Hi Linda,
I feel I have been blatantly ripped off from this same company/location and filed my own report after viewing yours. Now that my bank has taken care of the fraudulent charges, I'm in the position of having to decide whether to pursue legal charges/actions or just push everything to pay them off ASAP.
I wish we could get in contact together because the attorney's I have talked to about this do say that I may have a chance here. I'm not sure about a class action suit, but the same attorney being approached by at least two different people with the same complaints more or less, may encourage a harder and more thorough fight to get out of the contract if nothing else - not to mention it will add much more weight to our arguments with the mediator/judge that would reside over the case.
