This past December, my husband and I bought a bloodhound from this Arkansas breeder, Tammie Christopher. We called her on the phone after seeing our puppy on her website. She told us about the puppy and we told her that we wanted it and that we were moving to Louisiana to our farm and were going to breed bloodhounds as a family business. She said "great! How soon do you want to get it?

Needless to say, my husband told her that he would drive the 7 hours there to get it and be there early that next morning around 8:30/9:00am. He arrived as he said he would, in 25 degree cold weather, and she never invited him in, would not let him go take pics of the mom and dad of our puppy, and handed him a 4-5 page document

that was stapled together, (where she had it turned to the signature page, pg 3 or 4) and asked him to sign. He gave her $800 cash(IRS?) for this liver/tan female, signed her paper,and drove home. Two days later, while cleaning house, I picked up the puppy papers to read and what a shock I got! We had just paid $800 for a puppy we could never breed and get papers on our puppies.

I read the whole trash-of-a-contract and also learned that I couldn't even name the dog without giving it her name first. I contacted her and made her aware that we were extremely ticked about what she did, and later she sent me the email that she and her husband had decided to amend the contract, and become co-owners with us.

We said "No way". She flattered herself when she thought that we thorougly read her website and all it's garbage. We saw the pup, took the number down, called the breeder, told her our ambitions and plans, and she said "I've got just the dog!" The same thing most people do when they go to her site...see pics and call.

She should have told us upfront what her intentions were, and we never would have bought the puppy from her. Who is gonna pay $800 for a dog that they can never breed or get papers on? Also. in that so-called contract, she stated that $200 of our total $800 went toward a non-refundable holding deposit, which she never mentioned at any time.

She also stated in that document that we selected limited registration, which she checked for us, and then handed it to my husband, folded back to the signature page. She knew what she was doing, she intentionally sold us this puppy under fraudulent pretences.

Since then, we have learned of several other breeders that know about these types of situations going on at Top Dog/Arkansas, and each have agreed to give statements regarding their experiences as well. We have contacted AKC, and are currently preparing documentation for them.
