I purchased two inflatable paddleboards from this company at the national sailboat show and had them shipped to my home in Minneapolis. I then took the boards to my boat on lake superior and they and been stored uninflated indoors except for the couple of days per year that it is warm enough to use them (maybe 6 days in three years).
On of the boards has been fine and the other blows out a seam every time it is inflated. The seam overlap is vastly different on the two boards (see pictures). When I contacted Tower with the attached photos they had the response listed below. I also have a boat in Panama and have notice many dead Tower boards on boats with these same issues. BE CAREFUL OF THIS COMPANY!

Hi Sara,The seam on this board was not manufactured properly.Xterra replaced a defective board for us recently for a similar issue out of warranty. There is a boat down the dock from us with the exact same issue. We make our fellow cruisers aware of your defective products vs Xterra's assistance by posting the story and pictures on:Cruisers ForumRipoff ReportWe will also report any assistance you might decide to give us at some point.Ann and Mike RoessS/V Tal' LiraOn Mon, Apr 11, 2016 at 11:21 AM, Sara Brown <sara@towerpaddleboards.com> wrote:HI Michael,You might need to buy a bigger PVC piece at a local boat store. I'm sorry but you warranty has expired. Here is a more detailed video and instructions how to fix the seam:You are going to glue the seams together first before you apply the patch because the way we construct our boards is a double layer system you need to try and replicate that.1) Clean both sides of the seam.2) Apply Glue to both sides3) Wait 3-5 Mins4) Press 2 sides together with a back end of a utensil or a spoon5) Use a hit air gun (hair dryer) for 5 mins.6) Wait an hour.Apply Patch7) Clean board and clean patch you are going to apply to the board8) Apply glue on patch9) Wait 3-5 Mins10) Place patch on board11) Use the hot air gun again for 5 mins.12) Press out bubbles with spoon.Use the video still as a reference point for applying the glue and picking out materials.Let me know how it goes.--Sara BrownDirector of Customer ExperienceOn Fri, Apr 8, 2016 at 2:29 PM, Michael Roess <imetroproperty@gmail.com> wrote:Sara,I was just up on deck and noticed the seam on the good board. Immediately after patching the second a third developed between the two and is not patched. The seam is very narrow at this part of the board, I have attached a picture of the seam on the balance of the board (twice to three times the overlap and do not leak.MikeOn Fri, Apr 8, 2016 at 2:40 PM, Sara Brown <sara@towerpaddleboards.com> wrote:HI Mike,Yes can you send photos? The seam is narrow at the aft Starboard side and I have patched is in a couple of places. Unfortunately as soon as I patch it another section leaks (I can send you a picture). I really do not think that this seam can be repaired and it is not that old.I have a second board that does not share this manufacturing defect and I am prepared to send you pictures of each.I am respectfuly asking that you replace this board at no charge or offer me a replacement at a discount. Thanks for your attention in this matter. Thanks,Mike

Dear Tyg,
With all due respect I started my career with The Maytag Company and understand quality. It was common for us to provide assistance to customers on product failures that were well beyond the warranty period.
This was an expensive profuct that got almost no use (on Lake Superior) and failed just beyond the warranty period. The second board purchased at the same time is performing just fine.
Your criticism of our report feels as if you have interest in Tower and it would be ethical for you to disclose this.

You have had the item long enough that it is out of warranty. So instead of doing the adult thing and admitting that YOU need to purchase another item, YOU go defaming them on the web making demands for them to replace YOUR item or YOU are going to use social blackmail to get your way. Dont you see how WRONG that is to do?? We ALL only have YOUR WORD that the product failed. Given YOUR actions how can ANYONE take YOUR WORD as the truth?? Odds are that YOU damaged the item and saw an opportunity to pressure THEM into giving YOU a new one.
It doesnt work that way and to expect them to do ANYTHING outside of the warranty period only goes to show that YOU are the problem and YOU shame not only yourself but the class of people YOU hang around with. Evidently YOU were told at a young age that its ok to LIE and DEFAME and BESMIRCH innocent people for YOUR problem. YOU shame your parents and YOU should REALLY look at the life lesson YOU are teaching others. In YOUR MIND its perfectly ok for YOU to make unrealistic demands to get your way.
Grow up and ACCEPT that there is NOTHING they are going to do for you and dont buy thier product ever again if YOU are unhappy about it. Using social blackmail is almost as bad as robbing them. But THIS is the path YOU have chosen and I personally hope beyond hope that THEY take offense to what YOU have WILLINGLY and WITH MALICE chosen to post and sue you so YOU have to sell that boat to cover what YOU will owe. After 3 years what YOU are doing is wrong and YOU should really be ashamed of yourself. I know I feel nothing but discuss for people who try and BULLY to get thier way. THAT is what YOU have become. Internet bullies who feel no SHAME in basically commiting FRAUD to get thier way.
