I discovered these charges on my credit card bill. One from "GOOGLE EDUCATION" for $47.50, and one from TQG*onlinebizkit for $99.00, neither of which I was pretty certain I had not bought anything from. I looked up the second and discovered it was some kind of work at home thing, so I immediately called my credit card company and was given to the fraud unit, who said they had heard about this from others and would cancel my credit card and send me a new number. He told me that this kind of company will bill you for a smaller amount, and then start billing for larger amounts if the small amount is paid. I might have paid the smaller amount, since they used the Google name and I use Google often, but the $99 came on the same bill.

Wen I called the phone number listed for the 'Google Education' part of the bill, it turned out to be an escort business in Virginia, very upset because people were calling them to find out about their billing.

Luckily I have a good credit card company, which will cancel these amounts and change my card number. I do not know how these people got hold of my credit card number, but I do buy a lot of things online, or perhaps they are part of the group that managed to find out a lot of card numbers.

I would advise everyone to check out all their billing before they pay their credit cards. If anything seems suspicious, call the card company, listed on your bill, and ask them to check that it out. Also, the 'company' always lists an 800 number that  you can call to find out who they are and to question the bill and the amount. As the man in the fraud unit told me, they start with a small amount to see if you will pay it, then go to the larger amount. They also use a small amount number like $47.50 that sounds like something you might have bought. Then the larger amount is just 89.00 or 99.00

I plan to keep a book by the phone, and list everything I buy online in it, so that I know what I have spent and where. This way I can check the date and the amount of every purchase when the bill comes in.
