Let's start with saying that, unfortunatley, I've been a resident at Tradewinds for 3 1/2yrs. I've recently had a wage increase and I am now getting out of my lease.

Since I moved into Tradewinds (Jan. '02) I haven't been impressed. My girlfriend found it online, because we were moving from out of state. We didn't know anything about this area, so we didn't know any better.

Tradewinds is openly infested with drugs, vandalism, safety hazards, etc. And management doesn't do anything to fix the situation.

I have 3 neighbors that blast their music all day, every day. So far, between the 3 of them, the police have had to respond to parking lot fights, animal neglect, animal cruelty, and several parties. The security company that sometimes answers complaints after hours ('sometimes' meaning 'if they feel like it') has been here more times than I can remember because of these people.

I have reported this to the property managers every time and nothing has been done. Management instead has started to scrutinize me and threaten to fine me for NOT violating my lease.

My vehicle is vandalized every time my neighbors have a party, and management does nothing about it. The only thing that I can really see management doing is changing their community policy every week.- One week they say that we can work on our vehicles in the parking lot, and then they try to fine me $50 for checking my oil before I go to work!

My girlfriend has literally been stalked by a maintenance guy (he followed her to my apartment and watched her for several days, according to the property manager) while walking my Rottweiler, so that he can report her for not picking up the poop (my pet permit says I don't have to). By the way- Tradewinds has recently changed their policy (without notice) and now my Rottweiler isn't allowed here, after they've allowed it for over 2 years. So now they are going to fine ME over THEIR oversight of our pet permit agreement.

Meanwhile, management can't seem to see the cars up on blocks, backed into the stalls with expired plates, parked in the red emergency access zones, windows with foil over them, etc.

My carpet was supposed to have been replaced before I moved in- it wasn't even cleaned, but I still paid a 'preparation fee'. We couldn't even stay in the apartment the first week because of the roach infestation and unsanitary condition. My balcony was dry rotted and needed painted before I moved in- it still hasn't been fixed. All of the cabinets are falling apart and I noted it on the check-in sheet over 3 years ago-yet they still haven't been fixed. I have bugs that have been painted over on my walls!!!

The leasing agent that assigned me this apartment (I didn't have a choice) would not refund my deposit and first month's rent even though it had been LESS than a week since move in. Shortly thereafter, she was fired and then evicted for drug use. The other leasing agent told me that my apartment wasn't supposed to be rented because of it's condition and she too was fired shortly thereafter- talk about covering your as*!!!

I tried to get another apartment, but management would not let me unless I paid another deposit and first month's rent.

Anyway, the point of my rant is, stay far away from Tradewinds and Bernard Allison, for that matter. Learn from my misfortunes. CONSUMER BEWARE!

took 3 months to recieve my deposit refund

Well, I've since moved out of Tradewinds. It took 3 months to recieve my deposit refund, but, I did recieve a full refund- much to my surprise! None of the issues that I mentioned before were addressed before I left. My last bit of advise for anyone moving into any apartment complex is this: DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING! That way you won't be mad when you get nothing! I've read through a lot of reviews for a lot of apartments in The Valley and I haven't read a single review that was particularly favorable. It's all personal opinion, and everone is entitled to their own opinion.

Still no resolution!

I have tried to contact the leasing office every day for the last 11 days straight about the excessively loud music from my neighbors at 6am and all afternoon into the early evening. I have found that they won't answer the phone within 15min of closing time. The property manager and assistant property manager are never available. When I am able to talk with someone I am told that the loud music will addressed immediately, but it never is.

Keep in mind that if management does not document anything, then you can't prove that the conversation even took place- as is the issue with the repairs that have needed to be done in my apartment for the last 3 1/2yrs. The maintenance staff never documents what they see in the inspection so the needed repair must not exist, right? I don't have documentation that my neighbors have been 'unneighborly' since the day they moved in so they must not be in violation of their lease agreement, right?

My point is this: DOCUMENT EVERTHING! Even if you can't get them to sign anything, just write it down, take a picure, put dates on it, get a witness- just DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! If something in the lease agreement doesn't apply to you then make them change the document!

I have emailed Bernard Allison Management. I'll update this with their response- if I get one!
