I was tricked into putting up $795 for some unprofessional photos to be put on the net. They told me anything to get my money. Please help me get it back before it is too late.

getting a good photographer

AUTHOR: jamie lynn-anderson - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, January 14, 2003

yes, I agree that 795 seems like a lot for a photographer- did you have to pay for a separate makeup artist? and what about the rights to the pictures. there are a lot of unanswered questions.

if you got a makeup artist, a number of outfit changes,(at least 3 or 4) and the rights to keep the negatives or images, that's not too bad, but of course I have no way of knowing the quality of the photographer.

It's funny but often in bigger, expensive cities like LA,NYC and Miami the rates are better because there's more competition. in small towns the few photographers have a monopoly.

I hope your photos turned out okay. it may be difficult to dispute if you received what you paid for. If the quality is terrible or you never got the pictures, you should try to fight it- contact the company or your bank.

good luck

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

EX SCOUT OF 1 WEEK :(

AUTHOR: Kristina - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 14, 2002

I like many others answered the ad on Monsters.com. I thought this was the pefect job for me. I had a small amount of modeling experience and a good eye for talent. So I went to the mass interview which took all of 6 hours.I think they were trying to make us so tired that we wouldn't ask questions.

At the end I was hired and told that I was a good match for the company. I was told that I had to start the next day for 1 week of training. The schedule was insane and by the second day we were given generic cards and told to scout no less than 30 people a day. I was also told that since I was a mom I should use my baby when I scouted because people tend to believe a mom with her child.

By the forth day I couldn't take it anymore , the drive , the sales pressure, and the feeling I got in the pit of my stomach every time I handed out a card while thinking of the $795.00 the "talent" had to pay. I also noticed the discrepencies of what the office staff would tell us compared to what'd they do. They tell you not scout people together because it cheapens the scouting experience for the talent , yet whole families would come in having been scouted together. Then they tell us for the website you pay the 795.00 + $20 mo. matainence and you can put as many pictures you want online. ( not true). They also tell you not to scout friends that accompany talent to the open call , but I watched as a scout did just that. lastly they tell you they don't take just anyone for this site , only those that fit industry standards.( not true).

I can't tell you how bad I feel about scouting people and bringing them into a high pressure sales situation. That was never my intention when I took this job, it was to make peoples dreams come true, not sell them a load of BULL!!

The worst part of it is that I have to see these people again and again because my city only has 150,000 people and everyone knows everyone else ( believe it or not).

I'm glad I got wise to this scam before I was into deep and hurt more unsupecting people.

THANK YOU for informing me and the rest of America!!! I just wish I could go back to the office and show this site to some of the new scouts who are killing themselves trying to make base and get out of training. THANKS AGAIN!!!

Refund/Search Suggestion

AUTHOR: Robin - ()

POSTED: Saturday, November 16, 2002

Hi Maribel,

If you have not already done so, please try this:

Click on 'Search Reports' here at the ripoffreport.

In the 'Company Name' column type in various names for Trans Continental, then submit. Do separate searches under each of these names:

Emodel
Options Talent
TC Talent
Trans Continental
Edge Talent

I think it would be most advantageous for you to start with 'Options Talent'. The postings are NUMEROUS. I believe you may find several suggestions among these postings that will help you to take steps for reimbursement. Seems time is of the essence.

I also recently learned that stop payments can be put on checks up to six months after the transaction date. Not certain of the details. If you paid by credit card, see if your credit card company can help you.

Did you know Trans Continental raised the cost quite recently? Probably because they have not been able to afford to pay many of their employees. It was $695.00, when it was Options. If I'm not mistaken, the cost started at about $495.00. The service gets worse, but the cost keeps going up. Something is wrong with this picture.

Hope this information is helpful.
