I have been with Merchant Services since 2004, during early 2008 Transtech merchants called several times wanting to upgrade my machine saying they are my credit card processing company and my Nurit 2085 machine was outdated even though in 2007 I had to purchase a new pin pad because of "technology". I told them the machine is working fine and was satisfied with what I had.  Then in Sept of 2008 they called saying my machine was not going to be able to process any transactions because it is very old and the technology will not support this old machine. Foolish me trusting the company I had been with since 2004, signed a contract only to find out later I was getting a new mechant ID number & a different statement even though all through the process, which they recorded, I kept asking if they were the same company and they assured me they were. I am also getting a $10.00 a month charge from Merchant Services, my old company. I called to see what I had to do to stop this charge but only was able to leave voice mail and no one returned my call.  I finally dug through my old paper work from 2004 found the name of someone with an extension and was told I need to fax a letter to stop the charges from Merchant Services. I am now in a 48 month lease for a credit card machine that I have now and found out can not be used by any other company but this one and also my Nurit 2085 is still being used and in fine conditon.  I wrote them a letter in April never received a response when I called and was told "they don't read letters unless it is sent to a specific person".  I spoke with other business owners and found they actually have credit card companys that GIVE you a machine, others lease a machine for $39.00, I am paying $77.30 a month. I had a new credit card company come in and tell me my Nurit 2085 can still be used, they sent me a pin pad and the machine is working fine.  I contacted Trantech Merchants and told them they misrepresented themselves I wanted out of my contract and a rude man told me with will cost me $595.00 since I am still in my contract date, and I must fax them a letter stating I want to cancel.  I have not been able to find that amount in the contract, I've tried to call him back and can only leave a message. They may be an very large processing company but they are dishonest and there should be some way to report them to some agency that regulates them. Has anyone else had this problem and know of an agency I can contact.
