TransWorld aka Green Flag Profit Recovery posts lots of job ads on Craigslist, etc. After wasting your time coming into the office, they give you this great pitch and tell you how you can make tons of money following their system. They then drop that YOU have to pay THEM for their system ($150+)and then you're required to pay for all of the services like mailers and postage.

The local manager recruits tons of people and when they quit after several frustrating months he then takes all of the sales residuals and their leads and repeats this over and over. In fact the manager will have his extension on the phone voicemail so he is the first person someone calling into the office for services will hear. BIG RIP OFF AND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS LOUSY COMPANY!

It is what it is!

AUTHOR: Joe T - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 14, 2011

Beware of Transworld Systems.  At one time they were a successful company.  But they have been through Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and many offices have been closed.   Many lawsuits have followed this company through the years.   You are an independent contractor.   You have no retirement, no no health insurance, and no guidance to deal with self employment tax, plus many at TSI in past years have had many tax problems.  Two gentleman named Gordon Dunn and George MaCauley made this a great company until around 1999, but since their retirements the company has been bounced around from one owner to another with the current owner being NCO.   I personally think the product  no longer produces decent results in the collection industry and you should check a web site such as lawdog to read the multiple law suits involvoing Transwolrd Systems.   The success rate of new salespeople is extremely low.   It is a straight commission sales position!  Odds are you will never sell enough to get you $150 investment back!

Really??

AUTHOR: Bobby B. - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, September 19, 2009

OK, here's my issue with this company.  I have never worked for the company, so I will not comment on it's procedures, however, I have been contacted by TSI every time my resume is updated on a popular job site.  And it just so happens that every time I am contacted, the following Wednesday is the last day they are meeting new prospective hires before making a decision on the Thursday for the new training beginning the following Monday.  Oh, btw - the position was for an account executive. which by no means states the job is for an independent contractor.

I have received this email 3 times in the past year, I must be REALLY lucky that of the 3 times I've updated my resume, this company has pursued me! yea right! Obviously something is not on the up and up here... and so after the 3rd time receiving this email, I researched the company and found this forum.

Now, for all the TSI fanboys/girls - I am happy that the company has made you so happy, but I am forced to not believe a single word of your testimonies... first, to the few who have worked there, or have dealt with them for a week or two, how do you know this is the company for you? I'm sure you haven't sold, negotiated or even gotten your feet wet in the business they are offering... and as most of these posts' were from years past, I would LOVE to see their updates.
And also, to the few who have worked for TSI for 20+ years, or even 10
+ years.. you actually paid $150 for a training package in the 1980's?? and it is STILL $150?? This company either has one helluva deal with a printing agency or this is all bull.
To all those reading this after reading the same email I have... beware, because if it seems to good to be true... well you know the rest.  6 figure salary... better than a franchise... all BASIC mind games the presenters of this "opportunity" impose on people to make them BELIEVE this system works.
Happy trails folks.. good luck.

Another satisfied Transworld Independent Contractor

AUTHOR: Karen C - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, September 11, 2009

Like Bill, I too am an independent contractor for Transworld Systems for nearly 8 years.  Those that have posted their opinions here are either former reps who were unsuccessful in selling our product and therefore have sour grapes, or those who have no idea what they're talking about and just like to post things on public forums.  The $150 that Transworld charges is just for some initial materials to get your business started like business cards and presentation materials.  A traditional company with employees rather than independent contractors may provide these materials at no cost, but then again, they would also pay lower commissions because they'd have to cover the cost of carrying the non-productive sales reps.

Transworld allows each of us to run our own business with a tiny upfront investment of $150.  This should be compared to what other companies charge franchises to start up a business, usually tens of thousands of dollars.  And for those of you who are so incensed by the idea of asking a sales rep to pay for their start up materials, would you be equally disturbed if you were hired as a sales rep and your employer asked you to go buy a new suit to improve your professional appearance?  Likely not and this isn't much different.

Successful sales reps make sales happen.  They don't wait for the phone to ring.  Anyone who has tried selling Transworld and failed, just didn't put forth enough effort.  Where else can you work in any industry, with any size company, with no territory, no quotas and no commission caps and have job security and the freedom to set your own schedule?  Transworld is definitely not a scam and the company is not making money selling $150 sales kits.  The profit is generated by our happy repeat clients who buy our services and keep buying them.  (I know, I have over 500 clients).

Sales as a career

AUTHOR: Bill - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 10, 2009

GreenFlag Profit Recovery by Transworld Systems is a very unique service and company. I started with them over 20 years ago as an independent contractor with no sales experience. This is easily a six figure income for sales people who understand the science of sales and have people skills. I have made millions in sales income over the years and this has given my family a great lifestyle. The service itself is fantastic. Our clients have recovered over 2.5 billion in the last three years without being charged a percentage. YES, I too spent the $150 to get a sales kit when I started, that is because we are not EMPLOYEES! Best $150 investment I have ever made.

I just sat through their 2.5 hour webinar for independent contractor

AUTHOR: Ynotski - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, April 06, 2009

I received an email about a week ago requesting me to consider Transworld Systems as an employment option and within the invitation I understood up front that this would be a 1099 "independent contractor" / "paid for performance" work relationship.

After reviewing their email, researching their website, I replied with my interest and sat through my 2.5 hour webinar / power point presentation this evening on this company. Throughout the presentation, it was clear... INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR!

I am dumbfounded at some of the ridiculous comments and arguments as to how this company could be a "scam". Upfront and throughout their website, throughout their webinar and powerpoint... etc... they explain that this is YOUR business and as such there is expenses to prepare you to sell for yourself. Isn't it great that they're not charging $1,000,000 and $85K yearly for franchise rights?

May I suggest for those folks who are reading this thread that they do their research fully before making judgements that can affect the well being of another company or person? So much confusion and bad feelings can be eliminated if we all did so.

#22 UPDATE Employee

20 years with Transworld Systems, Inc

AUTHOR: Bill - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 03, 2009

I am not an employee, but an independant contractor for Transworld Systems, Inc and have been selling their unique services for over 20 years. When I started, I had no sales experience and had to invest $150 dollars in a sales kit. (that is because their sales people are independant contractors not employees). As an independant contractor, I have no territories, no house accounts, and no boss. I am free to make as much or as little as I want. I can work my own hours. This has given my family a great lifestyle and it is a 6 figure income for people that have a work ethic to start. It is not a scam. We sell early diplomatic intervention of a third party at a controlled cost. With over 120 offices and over 50,000 clients this service recovers over 800 million a year for our clients without charging them a precentage! Sales is not for everyone, and most people quit before they give themselves time to be successful. However, sales is the highest paid income for those who work and the lowest paid income for the "pretenders". My clients reorder this service year after year, and range from Fortune 500 companies to individual one person businesses. Yes, I am on my third "holding company" and fifth president, but our service is still the best and getting better all the time. I feel bless to have this opportunity for my family. And yes, I was scared in starting in sales, and really didn't have any skills but I now have a better lifestyle than some of my clients. This service works everytime, but it can be abused by our clients. Anyone who has negative thoughts, either never worked for this company or used our service incorrectly. Saying dispariging remarks only show lack of knowledge on the subject. Thanks for your time reading this rebuttal.

TSI Employee relationship

To the guy that has been living with his head in the mud for twenty years talk to your long time regional manager and ask him to show you the IRS documents that state and have been backed up many times that all Regional because of these IRS rulings recently in the last two years are now employees. The IRS ruling states all district as well as any other like kind contract is an employee/employer realationship. Someone gave him a copy while they were in Virginia Beach in person!

TSI paid for OSI University and all plane fares to corporate meetings as well as hotels and meals. Bulk mailing return mail permits and provides marketing materail and internet leads. They also give quotas to the managers and help pay for their ads for recruiting. The IRS only needs one of these to say you are an employee and they have done many. They don't even have offices in some states because they would have to withold state taxes. Call L in Chicago in the Homewood office and ask why they pay and withold state taxes in his office in Chicago. Ask why he P left Illinois. Why do they know longer have offices that were so great in New Orleans or Louisiana. Ask why there is no Mississippi office when it's growing and one of the fastest growing states. All TSI reps who file taxes as independent agents maybe commiting fraud and TSI is letting it happen. ASK COUNSEL. They have been told their agent agreements are employee/ employer relationships on more then one occasion and warned. This was before NCO bought them and I letting you know I don't know if anything has changed in the few months they were bought out. I know former managers that amended and refiled their taxes three years from independent agents to employees at the urging of the IRS and had money they paid refunded to them and TSI was not protected for not witholding and paying the IRS from their bankruptcy. Anyone who sues now they would probaly want to settle immediately not to drag this back to court. Everything I have read about TSI people are posting seems exactly what is happening. If anyone ask I can get a copy of all IRS rulings and they can call the IRS themselves. Call the IRS in the northeast. Call the Department of Labor in Wisconsin, Illinois, Louisiana, and Ohio all these states have ruled TSI agents are employees. The IRS looked at these rulings and 100% agreed as well!

With the money that is made from those sales our wonderful sales reps make... Everyone wins... Clients, Sales reps, and everyone else involved.

I figure a guy from the other side of TSI might stop in and give props to those wonderful reps that are working hard and ignoring the slander...

The truth about Transworld Systems

AUTHOR: Rw - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 08, 2008

I have to chuckle a little when I see an uninformed "pea-brain" like C from San Diego, talk about a Company he obviously has very little knowledge about. Always be careful listening to someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about. This month is my 20th anniversary with Transworld and I'm very proud to be associated with this fantastic company. I am one of 700+ independent contractors that represent this fine company which provides an extremely valuable accounts receivable management program to it's 65,000 clients nationwide and has been in business since 1970. I earn well over "six figures" and have made over 3000 sales in my 20 years.

Frist of all, when a person joins Transworld Systems, they are not an employee, but rather an independent contractor, as I mentioned earlier and actually have their own business and receive a 1099, rather than a W-2, like they would if they were "employed". Yes, there is a "nominal" fee of $150. to cover start-up costs such as business cards, training and selling materials, etc. and they are responsible for all of their expenses going forward. But let's be fair, what new business wouldn't have initial expenses to get it "off the ground" and ongoing expenses to keep it going.

I have no "Boss", but rather a manager to get help and training from. I have no hours, territories, and can't be terminated unless I misrepresent the company or don't average a minimum of two sales every 60 days which is a piece of cake if you're working at all.

In closing, and in my opinion, this is the very best sales opportunity out there and please check it out thoroughly rather than listening to the uniformed comments from someone like "C" from San Diego

The "rebuttalists" should re-read the complaint

AUTHOR: Shannon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 19, 2007

I have worked for Transworld and prior to that I have worked for a major newspaper in the "Help Wanted" section of sales. It is mandated by sources above the media that you may only use the Help Wanted section for true "Help Wanted" jobs. The jobs may be 1099 or W-2 that doesn't matter.

BUT the rules are specific and this is where the complaint is VALID. You cannot charge any money for anything on getting a job that is listed in the Help Wanted section. As I was also "sold" the "pie in the sky" presentation, when it came down to the $150, and I do believe it was $150, the question that is posed is "Would that be a problem?"

I'm sorry. Did I just hear a condescending question after a lengthy interview process the second interview is where they hit me with this money. Now, I'm upset but then you grab onto that "pie in the sky" story from a well-dressed manager. Believe me, it took me biting my tongue on his efforts and everything to not call the newspaper and report him. He wouldn't like that very much as newspapers will not allow an advertiser to go into a deceiving mode for advertising a business opportunity in the Help Wanted section. There is a Business Opportunity section for that. It is much more expensive and not as much response for obvious reasons.

Now, why would I "blow the whistle" during an interview? I wouldn't you fork over the money and then told that you will get the money back if you return the materials should things not work out. Oh yeah. don't hold your breath on that one. You may end up needing CMI, Transworld's sister company, to go after your ex-boss for the funds.

This is a typical Independent contractor type of SalesPosition

AUTHOR: Bob - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 07, 2007

I am looking into possibly starting with this company. I have been in Insurance and other sales for over 20 years. Being an employee for company is one thing, but being an independent contractor, where you get a 1099 not a W2, and you pay your own social security taxes is more like being self employed. You have more freedom to make money and spend your time as you like. some people are more like "worker Bees", they need constant direction and need an actual paycheck, they should not apply for a job like this. Being an independent contractor has it's rewards and is quite common in the field of sales, although the IRS does not like to see it. Ind. contactors, quite often pay for ongoing business expenses, but the rewards are there. Employees may not directly pay for some expenses, but the employer then takes all the rewards.

Not true! Transworld is not a scam!

AUTHOR: Stacy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, January 25, 2007

I have been an indep. agent of Transworld for almost 4 years. It is not an employee situation. The sales people are indep. agents (like realtors and insurance agents). They don't force you to pay money. If you want to make the small investment of $150.00 you can avail yourself a business opportunity. You can be a business owner without big franchise fees or other large investment.

It's a great company with a lot of integrity but it is not for everyone. It is not a scam. In fact, included in the 70,000 client base is the Dept. of Defense. Transworld is on the Congressional Record; which was required when they landed the VA Hospital business.

The morning meetings are not required. You can work out of your house. However, in order to really learn the business you should make it to the meetings your first year or 2. There is a lot of information and training passed on at the meetings that will help ensure your success. As a single mother of young children, I only attend meetings once a week.

Transworld is a unique opportunity and I hope your uninformed and semi hysterical original posting won't scare deserving individuals away.

So why are YOU paying for anything.

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 20, 2007

You are an employee of a company. You are hocking THEIR wares. If they want you trained-it is at THEIR expense. As someone mentioned earlier-it may be against labor laws to charge someone for a job. You are working for them-not yourself. I would never expect an employee of my company to pay for something like business cards and any training they may need. It would come out of my company's pocket. And I will bet they are claiming the deduction somehow on YOUR "expenses". After all, are you paying the printer directly for your business cards? I bet not. This scam is double-dipping.
You are all being taken.

I want everone to know my experience with transworld systems . I yes was charged the $150.00 upfront which like myself makes me skeptical but I am glad to report it has been the best money I have spent in a long time. Unfortuanetely Marc probaly had a bad mgr that did not explain exactly what they were getting in themselves into. It has been a great experience so far like anything else you do have to work and yes it is a sales job.

Don't Be Misled

Don't be misled by the perception of one individual. I can see how the $150.00 can seem like a scam, I know lots of people that would have walked away from the presentation as soon as they hear that they have to pay.

I see it as a business expense. If Transworld had asked me to put together a presentation kit, and make my own business cards, it could had cost me about $150.00 anyways. The way to look at Transworld is different than just a job. this could be an opportunity to create something for yourself and make a decent amount of money.

I have been with them for nearly two weeks, and already have made several appointments with potential customers. The service that Transworld provides is good and inexpensive.

The only thing I am having a problem with is that early meeting twice a week, I have an hour drive from my house to the office, and also have 2 children I have to take to school every morning. If I leave Transworld it will be for the meeting times and the drive up there, but not for anything else.

So Ryan, exactly what is it you are selling?

AUTHOR: Marc - (U.S.A.)

Does the company tell prospects that it's simply a sales job up front, and if not, why not? Because it's a scam, perhaps?
If I'm looking to hire a driver, for example, I simply state it. I don't cloud it in a bunch of vague mumbo-jumbo to draw people in.

For Sho and others, any "employer" that requires you to pay him money is either a scam or so insolvent he won't be around for long. Keep your three hundred dollars to use to transport you around looking for a real job.

Not True

AUTHOR: Ryan - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 16, 2006

I'm employed with TransWorld for about a week now and what you guys fail to realize is that this is a sales position.

Tons of companies in sales either require up front fees or require for you to pay for your leads (i.e. the mortgage industry).

TransWorld is not a scam in the least. They are a different type of company, and if you are gun shy at the fact of having to pay for your sales kit, then you aren't ready for this type of industry in sales.

Stick with something that gives you a base salary.

TransWorld does require up front fees because they give you a lot of stuff in your sales kit, including extremely confidential reports that you have no recourse to give back.

They do the upfront fee also because they know this job is not for everyone, and tons of people fail and only a few succeed. That's the nature of sales.

Why would they go through all those costs to people who won't bring any money into the company at all and keep the gear they give them?

If you do sell, they give you a bonus per sale to get you your money back relatively quickly, and none the less, once you're up on your feet, the money you bring in far offsets the upfront costs.

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't slander my employer that's given me so much in my life with a claim that they are a "rip-off".

I begin training on Monday in another state and I am supposed to pay $300 at the beginning of the training. They said that it was for the kit you use to do presentations as well as business cards and for the training. How long did you work for this company. Their product seems excellent. Do you think this guy is representing what is happening in the whole company or it's just a bad Manager. I need more information for myself and for others who I am going to start training with.

Thanks for posting this article.

File State and Federal labor charges!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 13, 2006

If he is advertising a JOB, that means he needs to be paying you.

Even in CA, it is illegal for an employer to charge an employee for anything that is required to do the job.

Did he call you an independent contractor? If yes, did he establish work rules and set your days and hours to work? That would be illegal too.

You really need to pursue this. Were you fired? File an unemployment claim. This will help jack his rates for unemployment insurance.

There are many ways to fix this guy's attitude.
