My husband recieved a fax at work stating it was from the HR Department at his company for a Cancun trip for $349, (double occupancy).

We called and was told we could add 8 additional people at this cost and would also be given a free Florida vacation to Orlando/Daytona for 3 days/2 nights. This was Sept. 22, 2005.

Knowing our friends wanted to do something very special for their 25th Wedding Anniversary we asked them to go with us to Cancun. (Our trip was good for two years from the date we paid $698 per couple).

November 6, 2006 we called Travel Comm to make the reservations for our upcoming trip over Spring Break in April. Calling a non 800 number which placed us on hold for 10 minutes we spoke to a very rude man named Vic. He informed us that we needed to send an additional $99 per person for hotel taxes and could upgrade our hotel to a 5 star for an additional $200 per couple, which we did. We made reservations at the Avalon Grand Cancun.(We also were asked what out yearly gross salary was since these 5-star hotels won't allow "just anyone" to stay). At this point we had paid Travel Comm $1,096 per couple. We were told to go ahead and make our flight reservations, which we did.

At the end of February Vic called and said The Avalon had been closed, the owner was being arrested and indicted on criminal charges. We would need to change our reservations to another hotel. He said with it being spring break the only hotels left with rooms were the ones which were 3 star.

I told him we were not happy with the change and wanted a 5 star or a refund. He was screaming and saying it wasn't his fault and the northerners were ignorant and didn't understand how the travel business worked. At this point I was furious and was given the name of Mary Marshall to contact.

Getting a hold of this woman was next to impossible. After trying for days she finally answered. I told her the problem we were having and wanted a different agent than Vic, She said we would have to stay with Vic but she would make arrangements for us to stay at the Occidental Allegro Resort, Playacar.

Feeling that I was being lied to I called the Occidental Allegro the following week to verify our reservations for the forst week of April. (We had made our flight tickets and didn't want to lose the money). I was told there were no reservations made in our names. I attempted to call Mary M. but figured she had caller ID since she never answered so I blocked my number until she finally answered. She said she was late for a meeting and I would need to work it out with Vic.

Vic was his happy self as usual and procedded to tell me that the Occidental was booked so we would have to stay(sleep) at the Holiday Inn (the only hotel with available rooms) and walk down the road a quarter mile for our meals. This was all he could do for us since it was Spring Break. He said it was a nice hotel and that since we had never seen it we should be happy to stay there.

Needless to say my husband and our friends called and told Vic what they thought which made no difference, he had our money and we were scammed!

The four of us made reservations with another reputable travel agency and flew to Cancun, stayed at the Occidental Allegro (yes they had availabe rooms) all inclusive and paid higher rate since we were booking three weeks before Spring Break. It was for a 25th Anniversary of our best friends and we didn't want it to be ruined because of Travel Comm.

Travel Comm took $2,192.00 from us! This company should be put out of business!
